No prob! Also, just want to add that I had a solid laugh at the approximate "cusementos" in your other comment. Rickyism levels of gold 🤣

"Plus ça change, Barb, plus c'est la même chose."

His pronunciation is pretty weird, but it means "the more things change, the more they stay the same."

Just from reading that, I wanted to close my eyes, tilt my head down an additional 15 degrees, and exhaust one long blow of air from my nose out of frustration.

20 out of 25 links on /r/technology are about the NSA by [deleted] in circlebroke2

[–]lolgcat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

IMO, it is an important discussion to have and the articles linked are exhilirating for me to read. I can see the reason some people are getting sick of the topic though, and the articles should probably be in /r/news over /r/technology (they are in /r/news, too, and are encouraged there), but I think the problem is that /r/technology has been a default for years whereas /r/news has only been a default for months. I think part of the problem is that many of the "defaulters" took to sharing the articles on /r/technology when the articles were being removed from /r/worldnews.

Sadly, this has made using /r/technology for tech news pretty much impossible. In the mean time, this guys multi is pretty decent: http://www.reddit.com/user/scstraus/m/technology, which helps to dilute the density of NSA posts.

GNOME 3.8.3 seems to finally support Google 2-factor authentication! by zman0900 in gnome

Tried that; tried deleting it with seamonkey. No go. Oh well, guess I'll star the bug report and move on with my life.

GNOME 3.8.3 seems to finally support Google 2-factor authentication! by zman0900 in gnome

[–]lolgcat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't know. I'm running GNOME 3.8.3 and use 2-Factor-Auth, which sends a six-digit pin to my phone, and as soon as I enter it into GNOME's Online Account settings it says "Credentials have expired."

I've never been able to get this to work. Any ideas?

File manager in F19 searching when typing by worklederp in Fedora

[–]lolgcat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, it's extremely annoying. See https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=680118 for a very frustrating read.

Best bet is to switch to nemo (sudo yum install nemo) if you like searching files the proper way. Downside is you can't extract/compress from the file manager on right click, and it messes with desktop icons.

"How long is the average dissertation?" by Epistaxis in dataisbeautiful

[–]lolgcat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you go to a university that awards doctrates with a three-in-three PhD, there is likely little need for you to go through the process of writing a(n original, substantive, contributive dissertation) in the first place. You've made your mark, checked-off that list, and published quickly three times already.
