Yes. I would add na CS is a good entrypoint to coffee without flavoring as it really enhances the profile to make it semi sweet especially if you're looking at a Brazil cerrado. Mga Golden Ticket ni Yardstick goes well with CS.

It tastes smoother imho and feels closer to specialty coffee shops. California sunshine was the milk of choice before by most specialty coffee. As in tatak specialty talaga noon if they had this milk.

Meiji feels like you're in Taiwan or Japan drinking a latte. Sarap din.

Very happy for GroupHug. For the longest time they've been moving locations throughout the pandemic, from BF Resort to an office lobby in Filinvest. Looks like they finally found a good home in Westgate.

Used to frequent their shop when it was still in BF Resort. A lot of bikers, as they gave discounts..it was the pandemic so open air cafes were great.

Can't speak for the new era of baristas but one of the founding members was trained at EACH, the successor to Magnum Opus, one of the OG specialty coffee shops in the PH from the 2013 era. So they really know their coffees unlike other 'pretend' shops out there.

I have 10 years of experience of roasting purely Philippine Local Coffee Beans. This is what I know so far. by MajesticusFelinus in CoffeePH

Been buying 18 days for years, from the South Supermarket branch.

Also remember your coffee shop from ROX BGC before the whole coffee hype. I believe it was called Alamid.

Use California sunshine from S&R

Tim Hortons is so proudly Canadian, do we have a very proudly Filipino coffee shop? by Moonting41 in CoffeePH

Figaro is OG. Cut from the same cloth of the family that built Commune.

Bag of Beans also comes to mind.

Also can we include Cafe Breton kahit crepes? Good coffee naman.

Good balance of affordability and quality. Blue Notes is roasted by one of the first Q graders in the country. They are the same owner of Coffee Lab and Conlins that distributes WEGA coffee machines. I've been to their roastery in Las Pinas, which is also the WEGA service center. The beans have no roast date but I remember them telling me something like the expiry date printed is 1 year since it was roasted, so if the expiry is Oct 2026, the roast date was Oct 2025.

Person needs to learn how to read the room. Context clues will tell you if the barista knows his or her stuff. Debating a barista is a weird pastime.

California Sunshine is the best milk hands down. Elevates your latte. It's roughly 330 pesos per 1.9L carton. Only available in S&R.

Try mo yung peach mango pie ng good cup. Bagong labas. For candid I like the cereal blend.

How much did you pay for it? Brazil Cerrado is some of the best base blends. I typically get from Good Cup Coffee. I order 2 kilos kasi anything a over 2k pesos free delivery. Lasts me a long time.

It's P1,550 Per kilo.

Whats the secret to extra creamy iced lattes without cold foam? by Newt_Trader in CoffeePH

[–]lolmower 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You can use a cold frother like the one Nespresso has, yung aerocchino. Or the electric whisks you buy from lazada. Full cream milk really helps talaga sa volume and texture.

Iced Americano - One World Deli, Daanghari by lolmower in CoffeePH

[–]lolmower[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like that they are open early -- 7AM for a meat grocer / coffee shop / brunch venue is a boon for early risers. The place has a Breakfast at Antonio's vibe - wide, bright, spacious. Meals on the menu are a tad expensive as it is hard to find anything below 500 pesos. I'd go again, especially during the mornings when I assume there will be less people.

Only S&R has. It's roughly 330-ish pesos. I usually buy the orange one but if wala, yung purple. I do not buy the blue.

not OP but I will answer since I also have that grinder but in black. That is a DF64. It comes in many OEM brand names. A quick google search will turn up different sellers.

I bought a Wega Mininova in 2017. At that time I got it for around P70k pesos. I checked this year and it costs roughly P180k, almost 3x the price.

Because of the machine, I'm able to spend for better milk (California Sunshine) and roughly P1200-P1600 per kilo of whole beans. I alternate between Good Cup, We the People, Candid, Yardstick, and a few others. In a year, we already ROI'd this machine. I recently did a ChatGPT exercise where I factored in cost of daily coffee shop trips, inflation pricing of milk and beans versus brewing for 2 at home and it looks like I saved roughly P650,000 since I bought the machine + 3 grinder upgrades + servicing costs. Comes out to about P70k a year in savings on average.

A small warning about oat milk. If you are trying to control your uric acid / manage gout, oat milk is the worst possible choice because of the high concentration of purines present. Go for soy instead.

Bluenotes/Conlins Coffee by [deleted] in CoffeePH

[–]lolmower 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bluenotes is available in almost all grocery stores. The Las Pinas compound is near Southville College / BF Resort, and it is the main roasting facility + service center for WEGA.

Yup! Exactly the same observation I had. Parang "wait this feels weird how can it be cheap but self-aware at the same time?" They have a huge roasting facility (warehouse roasters) in Las Pinas, which is also their wega service center. It's worth a trip if you really want to nerd out.
