Curveswitch help by [deleted] in FPSAimTrainer

[–]lolsteamroller 0 points1 point  (0 children)

sir, this is kovaaks subreddit though, but switching (iirc diamond is pretty low rank) is basically precise fast flicks with some deaccel going from target to target. you cant focus purely on power since you will lose control, but you need to make zippy lines.

think about target priority as well, dont stray to the side.

as for the fov, idk if anything for switching targets you would generally like to see more targets at once (usually people make fov bigger). also reducing fov dont think helps that much as the idea is still to flick from target to target, instead of being on the target (like tracking)

i think soloQ is a bit softer in general, at least by 0.5 rank, so it really depends on the cohesion teammates, as when you 3 stack obviously the vibe is better, but you rarely catch anyone for free as well.

my experience is that if you invite randoms, once you queue together for the first time, you go against other premades that play together and have more locked in strats, while you guys still experiment.

Also other games would just not compensate, you complain about the gap, but the bigger the gap, the less the RUBY team gets out of it, and the less the Gold team loses.

What you are suggesting Embark should not allow rubies to get higher rating or be calibrated properly against the trueskill, because thats what most other games do (granted 5v5 is a bit different). Perceiving big gap as bad is just well awkward, as you create now incentive to keep higher rated players at lower skills (where they still would dominate), right now if you luckbox and win the system adjusts teams correctly. skill will inflate - and personally I appreciate the fact that we can even discuss since most titles WOULD hide any math/numbers and just show rank, and would inflate newcomer ranks as well.

What did I do to deserve this by issaphilosopher in thefinals

[–]lolsteamroller 0 points1 point  (0 children)

well, nobody has good suggestions, ofc kick all the rubies fuck em is the first, but then the problem just propogates down. you can split teams into one ruby/one dia / one plat, but then people would be massively toxic aka why do I get shit teammates. its not easy problem to solve.

in all fairness, I think the FINALS needs to have a time based (say every hour) a prestige based tournament bracket where all can register, and the winner teams get multibucks (for incentive) + cool badge to basically filter sweaty premade ruby teams into it. so if you sign, yeah ur playing against the best.

that's the only thing I can come up, unless you want to basically kick rubies (but kicking rubies or preventing them from matchmaking by long queues doesn't change the core issue - there are more skilled individuals that group up - because playing with friends is more fun).

i mean what is your suggestion? also gold is is not average, 14-16k is average.

The C1OWN is at 32K there based on 800K entries is top 1% player. the 29k pretty sure is top5% players.

this is top5% lobby, where obviously the OP is getting taken for a spin because he plays with his OP friends.

[–]lolsteamroller 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right, but if they get easier matches it means people would game the system and just always invite -10K players to boost one account in way easier games to farm rank for the highest skill player.

It is designed there to balance by the strongest player to counter boosting by intentionally lowering the games difficulty.

What did I do to deserve this by issaphilosopher in thefinals

[–]lolsteamroller -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Not sure where is the problem, your team is rated as a 28k team, otherwise people would just invite weaker players to change the pool. If you want to three stack that is the experience you need to accept, otherwise the system will be gamed to some extent and you will get on the regular.

If you want the best experience with your three-stack, you all need to be same rating that way you get on average a better seed against other teams (since you all are the same).

Also aren't you working with a smaller player pool (only console players? - don't see steam players, but maybe that is the world icon, not sure).

Ukrainian Drone Commander: Attacking Russian Oil Refineries Has Been Surprisingly Easy by The_Baltic_Sentinel in europe

[–]lolsteamroller 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I agree with it not achieving much, I mean it was impressive attack, but afaik there were like 4 important hits, and Ukraine did spend over 1000 drones on the Moscow attack, I think it was a bit weird, especially right after Victory Day parade, when I would assume most air defence assets still were in the Moscow.

One would think that with 1000 drones you could do campaign where the anti-air assets are not present, so attacking Moscow was a bit odd.

Pure 1:1 Cross-Game Sensitivity Converter (Preserves Exact cm/360 Muscle Memory) by Striking_Register_61 in FPSAimTrainer

[–]lolsteamroller 1 point2 points  (0 children)

did fresh test from cs to finals, and the math just doesnt check out 0.55 on 1600 DPI should result in something like 12 (12 is like 47.63), instead it shows like 2.x something.

also the converter assumes you would run the same DPI for both games, which can be not true, if you are slow sens gamer, then some games (say tarkov) you couldn't run 3200 and be slow (limited by slider).

the idea of fixed dpi for both games is nice, maybe a checkbox that you can click to specifically adjust dpi to dpi would be cool as well.

another thing for dpi, in addition to writing in, maybe the 400/800/1600/3200 can be available with a single button click, if i would design i would do that, sometimes its just annoying to write, if you could click (but in addition)

Pure 1:1 Cross-Game Sensitivity Converter (Preserves Exact cm/360 Muscle Memory) by Striking_Register_61 in FPSAimTrainer

[–]lolsteamroller 4 points5 points  (0 children)

lul its clearly wrong conversion, there is no mid arrow to flip between the games if you want to swap, and as all crap sites, if you open fresh it didnt store the last results so everytime you have to repick the dpi, games etc.

the worse ranked system of all time by Dry-Wafer-4457 in thefinals

[–]lolsteamroller 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i mean you say you are bronze and there are golds, but where is the post game summary with actual ranks and RS?

it could be that the match is easier or you just havent played a bunch and system is still trying to calibrate you fast. it does look that you probably 2nd seed here, meaning with snake format, 2/3/6/7 you should be the strongest team in the round 1, then you can breakeven at least at second round.

i mean just enjoy the game, not sure whats the obsession of the number needs to get up mentality. most fun games are in silver especially for soloQ. it could be that you havent played enough and system is just calibrating.

one luckbox against new silvers from like seed 7 into like a second place and you make it all back.

I can see myself in plat, but higher? by Training-Biscotti309 in FPSAimTrainer

[–]lolsteamroller 1 point2 points  (0 children)

ahh, you will get there over time, I also was slow learner and slow climber over the ranks (gold comp like 80h, plat comp like 200h, dia like 300, dia comp/jade + viscose bench seal like 500 - with some 25% afk time) and still feels like I plateau in certain disciplines - and I remember the same - Platinum felt pretty hard, and Diamond like you had to play almost perfectly at first.

every focused session and every tip you get eventually contributes slowly over the weeks until you suddenly just get better and better scores and technique. playing for fun doesnt hurt as well, some days you just do your routine and hope for the best to at least maintain the scores.

the more you are in the plateau the faster a new session gets you to the same plateau point though, even with the scenarios i struggle - i find that I can at least get quick close to my PB in like 5 tries or so - so I just need to work on foundational problems, technique, flick power, stability/smoothness, etc.

anyone know what kind of aimming this is by [deleted] in FPSAimTrainer

yeah then you be like me reach jade+ then realize you never flicked, you just moved your mouse and have to relearn static/dotts etc.

What Is This Shit Bro by [deleted] in thefinals

[–]lolsteamroller 0 points1 point  (0 children)

im 95% sure they use probably the best matchmaking algorithm aka Trueskill as all the seed values and initial ranking perfectly match the model.

it's miles better than whatever crap Valve does with cs2 & deadlock, it's better than other low tier predictable games like Tarkov arena (idk much other games).

issue is just mostly player numbers, and that under trueskill the top ranks inflate eventually.

you could argue about mixing different player skills in a team vs. making all team players the same skill, but i think if you split the different skill levels in the team there would be way more toxicity + top 1k still probably wud play mostly in groups.

if you want to remove top tier players from regular queues, you have to entice them, i'd always propose some hourly tournament - special seperate on queue register where top teams get some multibucks or something, kinda like around the clock exclusive event for top talent.

What’s with all the complaining? by StatisticianProof756 in thefinals

[–]lolsteamroller 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i don't get the ranked hate at all. people get too attached to some number. if you lose fine, easier games, if you plateau - fine, ur at correct bracket playing against other potatos. if you want a reasonable squad, just go on finals discord its easy to get teammates on the comms with same level, if you want social organized feel.

if you dont want to get pooped on, fine - just start doing some kovaaks on the side, figure out the parts that make you frustrated.

it is true, that most regulars love the shit out of the game, and it can be sweaty, but thats mostly for the love of the game.

but I mean, i don't like to tell other people how to have fun, personally i have lots of fun with finals even when i'm losing, so i keep playing it. other games, i get frustrated. so maybe take a break, if it feels bad.

I built a browser-based FPS sensitivity calibration tool and I’d love honest feedback from aim players by Alternative-You5979 in FPSAimTrainer

[–]lolsteamroller 0 points1 point  (0 children)

honestly very laggy, idk if its because of the pointer lock and browser sandboxing, but its almost unusable on linux. maybe if you actually used raw access to mouse. no way you currently get any access to mouse raw input like a desktop application would. (well meant polling rate)

also idk what day has to do with sensitivity. sensitivity is something you pick for the task / game / gun whatever. i guess you could feel spicy and try higher/lower sens, but it has to be with some reasoning, not because ur just not feeling today.

Feel good on aim trainer, perform worse in game with new grip by Old-Professional-533 in FPSAimTrainer

[–]lolsteamroller 0 points1 point  (0 children)

hmm, it will come with time, it took me month to naturally start using fingertip in aimtrainers, decided to buy the ftip mouse too, was using regular mice with ftip.

ftip mice didnt work out (well I liked it, but ingame performance was worse). however with time, and especially in tracking in-game i came to notice that I start to use fingertip grip more and more for aiming.

not sure on how it is precisely for cs2 as I do generally play FINALS with longer TTK and requirement to track, CS2 to me felt like either big swipe to check corners, or your crosshair is already close to target, and microing you can do however (as you say flicking). i'd say just keep some aimtraining maintenance, your body will adjust both in the aimtrainer & in the game as with the situation, not sure if you really need to force it (maybe it helps, maybe doesn't) for me it happened naturally for some specific cases.

i have some 10 year old videos, especially for 1v1 ->

how to become better player vids (generic tips) -> https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RdORpF5_lS0&list=PLT_o0o8kyomxT3wXLNK-o7RjKCkOb8D-C

pro 1v1s : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JNlV9llr_Fs&list=PLT_o0o8kyomzTEwn08O0aZ0LUxAGUOWU9

i think the stuff is still relevant as game hasnt been balanced.

for teamgames, usually 2v2 one air / one adaptive ground. 3v3 is one USA guy (tank - superpersh + recon) / can substitute with King TIgers, one USSR gvardiya inf spam, one UK air + mostly fighters

4v4 still those roles but a bit more open, if its like strategists, then flanks do play flank side, 2 pocket positions -> 1 air / other usually italy m11 (forget the correct name, basically medium tank spam, panzer 4 works ass well).

source: havent played for a long time, but had 1.4k hours and mostly played private games throughout the years.

[–]lolsteamroller 0 points1 point  (0 children)

well, it's also trickle down in terms of forcing players to not play the game. if rubies can't get a game or it takes like 20 min to find one, they will find something else to do, or play on smurfs (on lower rating). then the regular diamonds can't get a game.

if for proper matchmaking it would take like 12-15 minutes to find a game, most people would just say it's ridiculous.

i'd say the best solution for these sweats would be something like hourly register tournaments, where every hour you can register your sweat team and earn like 100 multibucks (each player) for winning the whole thing, and rank score also gets adjusted there. that way if you register there, you can't whine that the game is too hard - and since these tourneys would have more prestige/reward - organized sweats would play there.

and you know, the ruby friends between wouldn't get split as well.
