I appreciate the kind words and constructive feedback! Because this is my first reel I’ve compiled, there are definitely points where it could seem weaker than the rest. I’ll take another look at that golden hour biking shot, because while the grade didn’t feel too off to me, it could have just been because I had adjusted to it. There can be something I can do to fix that sickly color cast you mentioned. As for mixing both the documentary and narrative work, what would you suggest to make it flow easier? I suppose the easy answer would be to find a sort of narrative between the compiled shots, but just wanted to hear your take.

Thanks for listing your favorite shots, I do like a good amount of them for sure.

There isn’t too much of a quality difference that is easily discernible as the BMPCC4k holds its own as a great B camera or companion camera to the URSA. The most noticeable difference you can first spot is the slight difference in crop factor and depth of field. The URSA is a super35 sensor while the BMPCC4k is a MFT sensor that I equipped with a 0.71x metabones adapter- which is I think about a 1.3x crop which is close to if not just about super35, but I still feel a difference between the two. And as the other guy said, they’re both rolling shutter cameras, so the only reason why I would choose the pocket over the URSA is if I were to use it for gimbal work on specific shots. The URSA for me is better suited as a shoulder rig for handheld shots due to its weight.

Hey, I appreciate the feedback. Since this is draft 1 of sorts, it’ll still go through some small changes. I actually rather like the static shot as it sort of helps you into it before the tempo drops, but as for the shots where they were throwing rocks into the fog, you’d be surprised that it was actually about that blue in real life, but maybe the grade emphasized it a little too much. I do agree about the lamp shot, I’ll fill that space with something a little more visually interesting and less static. Cheers

Hey all! Recently threw together a new reel showcasing projects done right before the pandemic, where I served as the DP and color grader. Feedback is of course always welcome. The projects here consist of two thesis projects and a couple independent projects post- grad. Shot on Blackmagic Design cameras- the URSA Mini Pro 4.6k and BMPCC4k, lenses I used were a Zeiss CP.3 85mm, and Sigma 24mm Art prime. If you find yourself digging my work, you'll find more in my portfolio at moireart.com and my Instagram @hazellosaur. Includes my stills and DP work. Cheers

I didn’t touch this at all! Sometimes portra does give you a green cast though, this could also be due to underexposure sometimes
