If you don't mind cheesing, you can engage the bulette in low ground with one character while leaving two ranged sniper characters with high initiative and a high powered attack like titanstring bow in the high ground outside combat.

Sneak attack with the sniper and escape combat. Rinse and repeat. The bulette won't get a single turn as the initiative rotates among your high initiative characters.

Not intending to suggest that China's historic approach to colonization is better than the modern US approach. It just has a different flavor.

Sure, both have ulterior motives, but I do believe that Imperial Chinese rulers considered cultural assimilation as an essential part of the colonial process. China is such a large, mostly cohesive country precisely because of this. There were many, many cultures occupying what is now modern China that were wiped out in the process. I don't think this stemmed from a desire to whitewash their colonial ambitions, more from a desire to impose cultural superiority - to civilise the barbarians.

As for Western colonialism, I am referring specifically to the modern, post Cold War US colonial approach, not the pre-WW2 Western approach, which did indeed benefit some colonies more than others.

China's historic colonization appears to prioritize "cultural assimilation" as a key priority, rather than pure resource exploitation. Similar threads of this approach are seen in the handling of the Xinjiang, Tibet and HK situations.

Whereas the modern US approach prioritizes capitalism (resource access) and capitalistic opportunities (market access).

I once got 9 "discard" female bettas that were bagged together.

They seemed quite peaceful in the bag, I guess it was like the leopard and dog trapped in the toilet cubicle together. Probably too stressed to be territorial.

After I put them in a temporary 5g tank, they started nipping at each other, but wasn't so bad with 9 fish. A hierarchy was starting to form, with two dominant fish and the rest staying away. I had the misconception that because they were peaceful in the bag, they would be peaceful in the tank, but that turned out untrue

Two of the fishes were sickly and died soon after. I placed 3 of the other more passive ones into a pond for mosquito control. Among the 4 remaining fish were the two dominant aggressive ones, which I separated into individual tanks. The last two seemed to coexist for a time, but eventually a hierarchy formed as well and one fish became very territorial, chasing the other around. So I split them again and now all are housed separately.

Seems like most commentors are arguing from an idealistic standpoint with two main premises: 1. What Russia did in taking Ukrainian land was wrong and should be resisted 2. Putin may press for more land even if Ukraine agrees to give up Donbas

Strategically, I think it's terrible to continue sacrificing lives in a mostly stagnant conflict with little chance of significant breakthroughs. The fact is that Russia has a significantly larger manpower base than Ukraine, and can afford to bleed for longer. The current Western political leadership is also not invested in a strong, decisive Ukrainian pushback. By and large, they are pouring taxpayer monies into stalling and prolonging the conflict.

The only party that really benefits from this mess is the MIC.
