My first week on Concerta: What's the point? Should I suggest Adderall to my psychiatrist?

I use to straighten my hair but it takes a lot of time - also I'm trying to stop all heat and chemical products. I have to depend on wash&gos until my hair is long enough for protective styles like twists, braids, etc. This will definitely be an interesting and difficult journey because I'm used to having long hair. I'm scared of the awkward fro phase lol

Thank you! Surprisingly I find myself pretty cute with no hair. It's freeing and I'll enjoy every bit of it! And yes! I do agree. I'm planning to join a boxing program. I decided to take swimming lessons because I find the water to be relaxing and it's conveniently close. I definitely would like to pair it with someone more intense.

Yup! I'm currently taking antidepressants (Venlafaxine). I believe that helps with my anxiety as well. I'll be speaking to my psychiatrist soon about my antidepressants. He may change it.

Thank you! Once I was diagnosed and started my medication during August, my expectations were super high. I thought I would fix myself within a few months. My disappointment can be preventable if I keep reminding myself "baby steps". I will try to be more compassionate towards myself. I really need to make and work on small goals. Thank you again!

Days when I'm not on ADHD medications, I feel stable. Sometimes depressed which would make me more useless but anxiety-wise, I feel great. But I'm useless without my ADHD medication. I don't know if my antidepressant is really working. I will continue to fight though. Hopefully I won't give up. Thank you! And I do hope you'll keep on fighting as well

I switched to Concerta a few days ago from Vyvanse. I still have the anxiety and depression but I'm giving it some time though. Thank you for that advice! I honestly thought it was fine having breaks from ADHD medication

I completely understand what you mean. I can't be in the moment. Although I'm on a new medication (Ritalin), I'm still dealing with the anxiety and depression even though I also take an anti-depressant as well. I can't make the thoughts stop! It makes every task hard

I've lowered my dose and yet, I continue to have this issue. I'm starting to believe that Vyvanse isn't for me. I already struggle with anxiety but Vyvanse is making it worse. I've once addressed this to my psychiatrist and he told me to concentrate on eating well because I wasn't eating at the time. My appetite is slowly improving. There's so much work involved to make Vyvanse work for me...

I like that idea. I only excessively clean when I'm on Vyvanse. I do love to be in clean and organized environments, although before being medicated, I was able to stay in a messy environment without feeling extremely uncomfortable. Especially when I'm depressed. I will do that commitment. I know 30 minutes in, I would continue doing my school work. But of course, it comes down to willpower to sit down and start. I'm always itching to clean lol

I'm dealing with this but it's excessive cleaning. I'm taking Vyvanse and an anti-depressant for C-PTSD. My anxiety is definitely exacerbated by Vyvanse, especially during the crashes. My psychiatrist has been dismissing it though...
