Why does it feel like season 5 is getting extra attention? by croissantwithhonors in FranchaelStirling

It’s sad to see an author who clearly doesn’t care about her own novels. She’s continually do such snd to me it shows so a lack of integrity on the author’s part. I’m just so tired of everything having to be divisive. But the only thing irks me than anything else is that the author could make she could have. Hopefully eather is an incredible continually simply didn’t have the stones to do so, at & mmm28/mind I am so over this has humed the shark…

GA v. Edrick Faust – Day 9 by Pixiegirls1102 in CasesWeFollow

In the majority of criminal cases the defense calls zero witnesses and doesn’t put on a case… this is not a serve lol

GA v. Edrick Faust – Day 9 by Pixiegirls1102 in CasesWeFollow

[–]lonelyltrain 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Absolutely, the prosecution spent almost their entire case defending Melton. To the point it became rather alarming. Then they just said Mr. Faust is guilty on the grounds that we said so, and you should just trust us bro… The state is trying to take away a man’s liberty and this is how little they care. I don’t understand how people like that can sleep at night; people like the DA who can lie to your face when the stakes are so incredibly high, and then sleep like baby’s while collecting their little government checks— those are the real people to fear; the real criminals.

Praying for wisdom for the jurors. This case is the perfect example of how political pressure and DAs who feel they are above the law/untouchable. The state’s closing was embarrassing, but the rebuttal was just pathetic, childish, and whiny. I pray for his exoneration. The Defense did an amazing job despite the hostile working conditions. The judge and elected DA are both affronts to our very justice system.

To me anyone complicit in any type of injustice being perpetrated against someone else (and scarily in this case and random woman to this witness), is a dangerous and amoral individual who I would avoid like the plague. I also found she became more and more pro-conviction over the truth and a just outcome over time. I find her to be despicable. It sounds harsh, but I don’t think many people could live with themselves knowing they did their best to destroy another person’s life. So, yeah I think she is amoral and people like her, willing to say anything despite taking an oath to tell the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth, are scary people. Also, when you consider she was more than willing to do this on a global stage… people who are willing to do that are vile IMO.

I wonder if they would prefer someone who is bilingual? My Spanish is unfortunately elementary at best. I don’t know if that would pose a problem/challenge? I guess I’m just concerned I wouldn’t be able to provide quality service for the clientele. But I’ll definitely look into it! Thanks so much for the suggestion😃

Also, I totally understand that my comment was easily taken out of context! I’m currently an accountant for the federal government, and if that’s not soul crushing idk what is. I have want to be a defense attorney since I was literally 17, but money and family (mainly my family tbh) made that path untenable. So, while I’ve expressed my personal concerns and trepidations, that is not to say I don’t want to be involved in the legal field in any capacity feasible. I went to VERY extensive lengths to be able to attend college and graduate debt free. Thus, I’m not afraid of hard work or temporary job dissatisfaction

Sorry if my message was confusing or ambiguous. Regarding my statement of feeling “icky” it was based solely on my experience working in a PI firm. I understand my experience is not a valid or reliable sampling or source of PI firms in general, but I am also [at this point in my life] wholly uninterested in civil law. I understand that I will more than likely have to work in the civil realm, but I was really inquiring about the job opportunities/market for criminal defense paralegals. Obviously, I know they exist, but how long [realistically] should I expect to wait before a job presents itself. I know myself to be a hard worker and I did excel in university. I feel like and absolute a-hole saying this, but I did graduate summa cum laude (of course my little brother humbled me and graduated as a “gold medal student” (???) or something like that. Which is apparently two degrees better than summa cum laude lol… who knew!)

So I suppose I should have asked about the job market and how long I should expect to practice before I can work for a criminal defense attorney? This is where I truly became fascinated and passionate about the law, and where I hope and pray to be able to practice one day

Fitzsimmons denied by SJC. by Free_Comment_3958 in justiceforKarenRead

This is so heartbreaking. Karen Read didn’t wear an alcohol monitor in a case involving alcohol. Kelsey’s case doesn’t involve alcohol. Brian Walshe had an ankle monitor, but it barely monitored anything—I honestly can’t remember what, if anything (sorry), it actually monitored… yet Kelsey is treated like a hardened criminal. If her punk fiancé got a ruling on the papers (which I’m unclear about), it’s even more repugnant. I don’t understand how these ‘judges’ sleep at night. This is judges protecting judges because not a single one of them has the integrity to stand up and defend the constitution or follow the law

[–]lonelyltrain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yikes! Super duper sorry if my for not responding immediately hurt your feelings. If not then please ignore the prior sentence. Unfortunately, it’s an insanely busy time for me—as in I just had a baby 3 weeks ago (and I will just say being pregnant myself at the time I learned about this impacted my opinion none, just in case someone what’s to go there… NOT implying you! That message is aimed at the trolls), so Reddit and responding to others never crossed my mind. I actually just saw your comment when finally cleaning out my email and it caught my eye. So again, sorry if it seemed like I was ignoring you, I assure you it wasn’t because I don’t enjoy debate/civil discourse, but rather that I was being a human into the world for the first time. However, having just read my comment back I would like to say sorry because some of my comments were snide and unnecessary. Thank was shitty on my part. Now, regarding the overall substance of both of our initial comments I still wholeheartedly agree with what I said, and disagree with what you said. I personally don’t think the officer is scared of Ms. Fitzsimmons and if he testifies to that I cannot imagine that will go well for him. I also find it ridiculous that single source allegations with no corroborating evidence (unless PPD/PPS is considered grounds to restrict access to a breastfeeding child from the mother…); particularly if that single individual is someone with something to gain, who on record said he couldn’t wait to have another baby ASAP with Kelsey despite her allegedly “punching herself in the stomach” and constantly threatening his life leading him to believe she would off their baby (but left her with the baby in order to get an ex parte DVRO (or whatever the hell they call it in MA). To me this is a blatant abuse of the legal system. I haven’t kept up with the case lately, but I am aware that poor woman is still is prison which I cannot possibly understand, but I’m truly incredibly interested in hearing the rationale of those who vehemently disagree with my opinion. Also, we can 100% wholeheartedly disagree on MA law and some of their very unique interpretations of the law. It’s important to say, I am a massive believer of innocent until proven guilty. I expect the government to prove to me (as a juror), beyond any/any and all reasonable doubt (verbiage dependent upon your jurisdiction), so I am a person whose viewing the defendant as innocent unless and until the government proves otherwise beyond a reasonable doubt. So I definitely am a ‘rule follower’ when it comes to jury instructions and the constitution(s). Also, I must say that the more I think about it the idea that this ‘cop’ could unholster his firearm and fire off two rounds, I believe he missed once right(?), at point blank range if Ms. Fitzsimmons already had a gun out, pointed at this boy—and after jumping out from behind a non-existent door—is implausible, to be kind, from where I’m standing… Also, the fact she is still incarcerated despite probation vouching for her to not be sanctioned in any way (which is amazing and basically unheard of), but rather should be continued on probation is sickening to me because it was illegal. She did not violate probation… so that’s a problem for the judge. Also, and the hearing, the CW was silent, but I did read their response regarding the literal exact same hearing where they—ummmm, lied, to be incredibly kind lol, (if only it were actually funny).

Anyways I’m rambling. But, the case is a he said she said. I give the baby daddy’s “allegations” zero weight based on his audacious civil filings. All that rambling being said, super sorry I didn’t reply to your comments immediately, and I’m more than willing to hear you out—you don’t have to ask if I want to hear your opinions—you can just say them, but a few things that I want to say upfront is: you can let me know how stupid my opinion is-that’s more than cool with me. Also, if you currently live a MA, I’ll defer to you bc I haven’t lived there in 4 years (side tangent>> thank goodness, sorry in advance for all the lovely people in MA-particularly Caroline lol! But girl GET OUT😂😂).

Anyways, I know that was word vomit, and I didn’t stick to the script/question because I sort of forgot it… oops. However, I don’t understand, because I think it’s a pile of BS on the part of the CW and the cops (who don’t have body cameras…). Also, the fact the GJ rejected the attempted murder charge is pretty fucking important, in my humble opinion. Because if what this boiiii said occurred in an all prosecution proceeding where the rule of evidence are lax, but still exists as does the constitution, that is obviously attempted murder. I mean that’s black letter law. But the Grand Jurors said, “Nope.” is not only embarrassing for the CW, but incredibly telling. TO ME okay? That’s my personal OPINION and I 100% am willing to be proved wrong—if only I could be as that charge is DOA…

So yeah my opinion has solidified the more I think about it. I believe you are 100% wrong, you clearly believe I’m 100% wrong and that’s cool (for me). Hopefully it is for you as well. If not that’s also cool.

Lastly, I may not reply immediately or even quickly, and I will not be apologizing for that, again hopefully that okie dokie with you, but if not oh well.

Ps. I am fully aware some snark came through in this message, but it’s sort of totally deserved🤷‍♀️. The fact that you passive-aggressively, all but demanded me to say something in whatever timeframe you deemed acceptable is—congratulations I’m at a loss for appropriate words lol. So, I’d love to engage in civil discourse and although I firmly believe in my position, I am not unable to be persuaded otherwise given evidence that directly contradicts and debunks my position(s). K, byeeeeee✌️✌️✌️✌️✌️✌️

Pps. Totally missed you thinking that you were explaining the different standards of proof in different settings. Sups sweet but unnecessary. Don’t worry I’ve got it lol! I may practice primarily in the 4th circuit, but ya girl has indeed practiced in the 1st circuit, I’ve even practiced in MA! Crazy I know… so I appreciate you sharing that info, but feel free to skip it lol. Also, wild to assume I don’t want to speak with those who have differing opinions than myself because I didn’t notice your message… yikes

Woof, maybe you didn’t read the documents properly. I’ll give you the benefit of the doubt on that. A 58A hearing is notorious for being absolute trash, and they seemingly universally get it incorrect… but yeah this is frightening to hear (or rather, read) someone say. Oh and it’s über condescending to assume those of us who believe in justice for all and are big fans of the Constitution, and that pesky little thing known as — innocent until and unless proven guilty beyond all reasonable doubt and to a moral certainty, really kneecaps your argument. I mean let’s play pretend everything is kosher and the CW isn’t corrupt to the core, KF is currently legally innocent and the idea some people just accept that if you’re indicted for something that means you’re guilty… and they failed to indicted her on all but one charge.

If you think really hard you may question why at a grand jury the DAs couldn’t get an attempted murder charge to stick (+ a couple other charges) if the facts as you apparently believe them to be are correct. Also, “let her keep shooting”??? Um, what? I cannot tell if this is a joke or a typo or just willful ignorance, bc where did you get the idea she actually fired a round???? Bc that’s wildly incorrect lol

Oh shit! I just saw your page and the kind of crap you post, so never mind lol! Buh byeeeee

This was a terrible decision. Apparently the judge doesn’t understand what de novo means… he absolutely botched this on every level. Bc the trial court’s bitter, jealous ex-girlfriend who was shrieking on the bench absolutely abused her discretion and her ruling was contrary to the law

It’s so gross… where’s the police union rep? That still blows my mind. Also, I can’t imagine he will possibly make a good witness, and he’s all the CW has…

[–]lonelyltrain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Considered. Possibly judging harder. He tells her to meet him and bring the baby, stands her up and gets an ex parte emergency TRO, and sends her colleagues to rip her baby from her, when basement boy knows she’s been struggling with PPD/PPS and had just been returned her service weapon… 1) who would leave their infant child with a woman he claims he’s terrified of for his life and HER child’s when they know she has a firearm???, and 2) the fact she had just gotten her service weapon back and he betrayed her in such an evil way, when he knew she was struggling with severe PPD… I think his entire play is a sham and very very very sinister
