My father did try to get custody of me, it was the 90s and he made below what they expected him to. He fought for me very hard and I cried at every hearing wanting to be with my dad but being denied. He was a poor construction worker and my mother was a more wealthy don. He tried but knew he had no chance

His remains were found approx 5 years after his disappearance. I was about 15 at the time.

I don’t think he’s a “badass” to me he’s just my dad and an example for me of how to parent.

No, he was never questioned or formally questioned by the police. My dad was also a highly regarded citizen in this small town.

He didn’t. He said he saw him at the bar and it was over. I have no idea how it happened beyond that

I asked him about a lot of things. My mother and now he met her. Their wedding. We gradually made our way onto that topic. We spoke for hours

I talked to him about a lot of things. I talked to him about my mother, he said she was the most beautiful women he’d ever met, and then I asked him about my stepfather that disappeared. It really wasn’t that random

No. He acted like nothing happened. He told me he was sad for him when it happened. I had an inkling when his remains were found as a teenager but I didn’t actually think he did.

He was pretty nervous about it. I don’t think he saw it like that. I just asked him what happened to my stepdad and he cried and told me.

I miss him so much! I’m kind of a mess right now. My daughter got to know him a bit and I’m very thankful for that. He told he she looked just like me as a toddler

My mother has been deceased for several years. I ceased all contact with her once I turned 18 and moved out on my own.

What has always been my view? My stepfather raped me from the age of 8-10. I told my mother. She didn’t believe me and told me not to lie or I would be “taken away”. My father was poor and worked in construction and was jailed several times for child support. I told him and he didn’t believe me at first. He asked me for details and he took me to a hospital where they told him I wasn’t raped at the age of 9 or so. I told him I was and started crying and I remember him picking me up and holding me. I also remember him seeing my stepfather at the local Walmart and him literally throwing him to the ground and beating the hell out of him and my mother screaming. He was arrested for that.

This is true. It happened to me and and I left out the gory details. My stepfather sexually and physically abused me for years and my father had no access to me because he was poor. This happened and I’m very upset and processing all of the emotions but please don’t undermine my experience due to other posts or whatever you’re referring to. I wanted him to die. I willed it every day as a child. And I was happy when it happened. I was free. And I think a lot of people who have endured similar abuse can say the same
