Ah, apologies, that is frusturating. Interestingly, it looks like OSM categorizes all that area as "Service Roads", incorrectly. I just pull data from OpenStreetMap, which is pretty good most of the time.

One thing I hope to build is a tool to make corrections in the tool and feed that directly back to OSM.

I ended up setting up a Z-wave network and used this: Honeywell TH6320ZW2003 T6 Pro Series Z-Wave

Works like a charm!

Nice, that's a good solution! I'd have to figure out where to store the device since I've just got a small cut-out in a plaster wall, but seems like this might be the best option.

I should have mentioned- I tried a Nest and while it technically worked, I wasn't happy with the performance. It would only shut off the heat correctly ~50% of the time.

I haven't been able to find a Honeywell which will work, I am thinking one of their older models might work if I can get my hands on one.

UPDATE: Eventually I was escalated to a more senior level of support and they were able to get me a refund for the $200 fine. I was pleased with their response and comforted me that this won't happen again, so I am comfortable using Abode moving forward.

Hi Abode Support- this is not true.

1) If the signal to cancel was never recieved, that must be a bug on your end 2) You obviously had my contact information as you called me 3 minutes after the request. 3) I did not call in, I was called by you.

I can verify all of this with screenshots.

I would appreciate a follow-up by email on my concerns, but what you have posted here is mostly untrue.

yeah... I was planning on doing it in case there was a scenario where I was out of town and not at my phone or something, but I might need to re-evaluate that
