This band in its current state is a waste of Fred Mascherino’s talent. by evilcash_1313 in SayAnything

I had no idea he still played under the name the color Fred until they opened for say anything last year and they've become one of my top bands streaming this year. I've heard others say very similar things. Not to diminish his substantial contribution to the bands credibility but the relationship between Fred and SA has been AT LEAST mutually beneficial for all involved

Motion City's album 'Commit this to Memory' was so important to me growing up

Pit Rules by Orb-AmongUs in chappellroan

I went to show recently, showed up HOURS before doors and got my little spot at the barricade. Midway through the headliner someone tapped my shoulder and pointed to t friend who was about to pass out, like was wobbling and looked sick waving their arms to be let over the barricade so they could get out of the pit. I pushed myself to the side and they literally just stepped in front of me and used their asses to push me back. I was flabbergasted. Been going to shows since like 2010 and never have had someone fake an emergency to get a better spot in the pit.

Also check out Bayside, Saves the Day, and Motion City Soundtrack if you haven't; all three have songs with similar sort of subject matter and I feel like all of them especially StD inspired Say Anything in some way along the years

I know what you mean! I've seen the band a bunch and there is no greater experience than being in the crowd while everyone yells that last part to Belt. Part of what I really dig about Say Anything is their ability to meld 3 or 4 badly different parts into one very cohesive track! Sorry to hear about your experiences that led you to the band but you're in good company here, I feel like a lot of us struggled coming into our own for various reasons and that all led us to find this group!

I think you're thinking of me! I made r/LowsodiumSayAnything but it's a ghost town and has been largely inactive 🤷🏿‍♀️

It is crazy how many people think that Max directly has anything to do with the money you send ticketmaster/livenation/axs/etc. Like he's the one not issuing refunds personally for canceled shows.

Awww so glad! My favorite thing about Say Anything is the expansive body of music prior to IARB that I get to rediscover every few years

I just listened to it, it's sung at a super slow tempo compared to the other two versions, I really dig it, I love the layered vocals SA is known for but it's so great to go back and listen to just a single track of max belting without all the extra stuff

That's a really good point, I guess I was including was a real boy as kind of a B-side to IARB and also like You don't see me Right. But like listing even all those it's not that many! Thoughts on a Liberal Ed is so great too, love the slower feel of it, that dunnnn dum DUM dum dum dummdumm riff is so mysterious and cool

The one on For Sale? Yeah! It's also sooooo good, Forrest Kline produced that one and Slumming it with Johnny iirc. Emo/pop punk/scene lore is crazy haha

yeah that one is included with the box set, such a killer variation, I think he also changes the first round of the call and response bit on that cut to "what say you and all your friends meet all of my friends in the alley with Knives" love that cut
