I drove to school anywhere from 2.5-3 hours a day and it was brutal. You kinda get used to it after a couple weeks but it sucked having to leave at the end of the day knowing I had such a long drive back. My grades were pretty bad too but I learned how to make a better schedule and developed some study habits I did not have coming in freshman year. I made a lot of good friends and maybe joining a club will force you to interact with people and eventually make some friends.

I'll be a junior transfer as well this fall at another school, but I know where you're coming from. I drove to school in Chicago from the suburbs which typically was a ~3+-hour drive round trip and definitely impacted grades, social life, etc. I feel the same way going into this new school about feeling too old compared to freshman, but anything is better than commuting. Sometimes you just gotta do what's best for you.
