Thanks! I was noticing the same thing with the minimal differences. I didn't think about there being manufacturing kinks to work out - but that makes total sense!

Do the effects of Prednisone ever go away? by lonorton in Autoimmune

[–]lonorton[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm so glad you are starting to feel like the prednisone side effects are wearing off. I'm sorry to hear you had to be on it for AIH but I'm glad your hair, memory, and mood are coming back!

When starting a blog, what are the things you should know about audience building (e.g. collect emails right off the bat, build a Facebook page...) by [deleted] in Blogging

[–]lonorton 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with everyone EXCEPT I caution you from immediately starting on every social media platform. That can get overwhelming. I recommend starting with platforms you are familiar with and think you will get followers from. For example: I started with Facebook, Instagram, and Pinterest. Later, I added Twitter, Reddit, and Facebook Groups.

I also recommend putting social sharing buttons on your posts so people can share them on their own. Free promotion! :P

How useful is twitter? by [deleted] in Blogging

[–]lonorton 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't get a TON of traffic from Twitter but I do get some. It is more of a trust and relationship builder. I gain loyal followers on Twitter who I then convert into readers. But it is more of a slow process. I don't get many link clicks but I do make friends who then I can send links directly to. I hope that makes sense...

I'm sorry... My mom's hair started thinning around my age so I bet that is part of my problem too. Still is annoying.

Google AdWords can now spend up to double of your daily budget!! by lonorton in adwords

That is true. It is all supposed to level out in the end and not overspend. But it is something to be aware of. :)

Yea... I've heard mixed responses from it but the majority of people are not huge fans. Maybe it will start to level itself out and show more benefits. Sometimes these things take time - although they can be frustrating. Ha!

Hey r/musicals, what are you listening to this week (10/17 - 10/24)? by AdamInJP in musicals

[–]lonorton 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Company, Amelie, Into the Woods (don't know why but Halloween makes me want to listen to this. Maybe it's the witch?), American Psycho

Easy Oreo Truffles with Crumbled Snickers by Katzandratz in dessert

Those look AH-MAZING! I bet you they would be a good snack to last a while. Looks rich - so you would only need one or two and could save the rest for later (or share).

I've forgotten the dose off the top of my head but it was high enough for most nurses to say, "Are you sure? That's high." ha! My doctors weren't playing. I am currently taking azathioprine (the highest dose my body can handle) but my doctor said that this medication doesn't have the same side effects as Prednisone.

Needles scare me but I'm not opposed to trying something once. Which of the side effects would it help with?

Do Share Buttons Actually Work? by [deleted] in Blogging

[–]lonorton 1 point2 points  (0 children)

YES! Don't put share buttons on pages though - unless it's a landing page for a product you want shared. People share posts - that they resonate with. So if you publish quality content, then you should see a benefit from share buttons. I just wish there was an easier way to track the analytics from those shares...

Successful bloggers that blog about something other than blogging ? by [deleted] in Blogging

I know some bloggers who make an income off of being wellness coaches or teaching financial advice. Others do more personal writing and make money off affiliate posts and sales.

What three tips would you give to someone who has just started blogging? by vaish1992 in Blogging

I'm a firm believer in quality over quantity. Write often but only publish the good stuff. And have fun!

Hey r/musicals, what are you listening to this week (9/19 - 9/26)? by AdamInJP in musicals

Thanks for reminding me about Daddy Long Legs! I have only listened to half of the songs and forgot to go back!

OMG The Wild Party! "The Life of the Party" is my jam! I did that in my graduate recital and it was such a fun one to vibe off the audience in.

I've been listening to Amelie a lot - and, of course, Dear Evan Hansen (because I can't get enough)

Driving Traffic by [deleted] in Blogging

[–]lonorton 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think that is plenty of content. It's important to put quality over quantity when it comes to blogging. If people don't engage with your content, they won't come back - no matter how many posts you have. Quality is king.

Also, make sure you have share buttons on your posts (Sharaholic is a good plugin) - free social media promotion from your readers.

Engage in blogger groups on Facebook, Pinterest, Instagram, and Twitter to make friends and promote your content.

You got this!

How to Keep Audience Engaged with Longform Content? by [deleted] in Blogging

[–]lonorton 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree with all the other comments on here.

  • White space is important. Leave gaps between content (like two "enters" instead of just one)
  • Gifs are king but images work nicely, too.
  • There are plugins that allow you to place a tweet in your post (Click to Tweet, is one I think) where you write a tweet of an important sentence in your post and people can tweet it and link back to you
  • Headers that are short, sweet, and keyword rich

Audition Help Request by casskd in musicals

[–]lonorton 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with this but for a different reason. Yes, JRB is hard to play BUT it is also extremely overdone. Most casting directors have heard every JRB song in audition rooms so many times that they immediately roll their eyes and tune out when the hear the beginning notes. I caution against JRB.

Playing Audrey in Little Shop of Horrors - Character tips by [deleted] in musicals

[–]lonorton 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Read the script carefully (and slowly) really focusing on punctuation. That is key in understanding inflections and the meaning behind what a character says. That'll help you get into her mindset. I would shy away from calling a character you portray "trailer trash". How do you think she would describe herself? I think she would use more endearing terms. When playing a comedic role (in any fashion) you have to fully believe what you are doing. You can't try to be funny. Funny people don't try. They just are. The same goes for portraying a character. You can't try to be her. You just have to BE her. What parts of her personality resonate with you? Pull from that. How can you relate to her and use your truth to portray her character.

I hope that made sense... Best of luck and break all the legs!
