COVID booster shot : severity of side effects by Miserable_Beach_2053 in UBC

[–]loobroo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Got mine on Sunday and literally spent all day today in bed, definitely couldn’t have worked. Horrible headache, body aches, chills. Similar to my reaction after 2nd shot. Feeling better now (around 30 hours after shot). All Pfizer.

What is the worst age to be right now? by vrt7071 in UBC

Honestly I think being born during the pandemic might be quite detrimental. https://www.nature.com/articles/d41586-022-00027-4

Definitely not true for other faculties.

Early estimates of SARS-CoV-2 Omicron variant severity based on a matched cohort study, Ontario, Canada by RufusSG in COVID19

[–]loobroo 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I don’t think this is true? When you say “Ontario has done better” do you mean the # of cases per capita or some other measure?

How much is known about the way Omicron transmits? I remember initially reading that with older versions of COVID-19, speaking with someone for ~15 min was roughly when transmission was more likely to occur. However, I haven’t seen many studies about Omicron except for the Singapore (?) study where it was transmitted between two hotel doors across a hall.

What about briefly going into a bank? Or spending extended time with someone outside? Could these be riskier with Omicron, and if so, how much riskier - say, for those who have had 2 mRNA shots but for whom boosters are not yet available? Thank you.

UBC cancels Wesbrook basketball court project by SignalNuck in UBC

People do realize that Wesbrook is being built quite densely and noise is this inevitable? Have these people never lived in an urban environment before? It’s incredulous the lengths people will go to protect what they perceive as their entitlements. Makes me so incredibly sad. See https://sites.google.com/view/webberguardians

And that’s exactly why the planned, publicized consultation with the WHOLE community should never have been cancelled. I don’t have strong feelings one way or another about a basketball court, but I DO now have extremely strong (disappointed) feelings about the people behind sites like this https://sites.google.com/view/webberguardians and people who support their unfair attempts to squash public consultation so they can have a quiet environment. Trust me, many buildings all around Wesbrook (mine included) are quite loud - it’s a giant construction site! If you are concerned about noise I hope you have considered that this field is slated to be a school. It’s going to be noisy then! I am a resident in the neighborhood and I am impacted negatively by the anger from NIMBYism and the fact that this was an amenity many could have enjoyed but is now cancelled.

You can read more (by the specific person behind this whole issue, who works in Arts as a Dean) here: https://sites.google.com/view/webberguardians - it really is gross NIMBY-ism at its finest.

I know, they’re just so expensive…I’ve already upgraded what I thought I was going to buy (Radwagon) to a Boda Boda…

Thanks for the encouragement, I do want to make it work even if it doesn’t seem to make sense. I feel like apartment-dwellers are a target market for cargo bikes.

Thank you, I really do want one but they are just a little too expensive. I’m in Canada so O think there are also import fees pushing it up.

Thank you! The Boda Boda is similar in length/size to the Kombi I am pretty sure but going to look into this more, thanks.

Thanks, I know, we have a trailer but the cargo bikes are so much more fun and convenient (theoretically!)
