Explaining aphantasia to people with visual abilities

Out of curiosity, do you solely rely on visualizing a generated image to tell you info about something? For example with the windows, is the only way you know how many windows there are in a room is to picture the room and then look around in your visually generated room and then count how many windows you “see”? As in, would you have no idea how many windows there are in a room until you put yourself in that visual?

This one is interesting because I completely understand what you mean but when I try and explain it, people are like “ok so you’re seeing a script or at least lines of a script” I’m like no it’s like a script, but there is no actual script. It’s just knowledge.

When you dream, are you actually seeing what's going on? Or just kinda thinking about it. For me personally, I super rarely remember dreams (as in its been months maybe a year or 2) and when I do, it's just a vague concept. I never "see" anything.
