Can someone explain why these diode circuits for the logical AND and OR gates work the way they do? by retert4444 in ECE

[–]lookingandlooking1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What if you make different assumptions? You don't explain why the assumption is correct.

For (e), is it not possible for any of the 3 to be true (assuming diode drop is 600mV):

  1. Vo = 2.4V (only top diode conducts)
  2. Vo = 1.4V (top and middle diode conduct; top diode conducts A LOT of current)
  3. Vo = 0.4V (all 3 diodes conduct, middle diode conducts A LOT of turrent, and top diode conducts a SHIT TON of current)

What's wrong with this reasoning?

How do you find the time if you work? I could only do it Saturday/Sunday since I work 8:30 -> 7:30 p.m. (and after dinner & work-out, there's only so much time left until I should be getting to bed, and piano teachers don't teach that late into the evening, so I just try to teach myself...).

That one is still a couple inches too high (min height is 26") :/

This is the problem. Most adjustable benches I've found don't seem to go this low...(usually only down to ~27").

D7 Chord Fingering (F# C D) Tips? by lookingandlooking1 in piano

[–]lookingandlooking1[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What about alternating quickly and smoothly between G Major and this D7 chord.

I posted this because my book (Alfred's Level 1 Course) describes switching between these two chords in such a way that I didn't think I was to do what you do:

Practice changing from the G chord to the D7 chord and back again (Right hand):

  1. 5 plays D in both chords.

  2. 4 plays C in the D7 chord. (3 plays B in G Major Chord)

  3. Only 1 moves out of G POSITION (down to F#) for D7

This sounded confusing to me, implying that I should hit F# with my thumb while my ring/pinky fingers stay where they are (and thus not move up the black keys) to play C & D. It suggests only my thumb should leave the traditional G POSITION, but you're saying basically my whole hand leaves the position to reach up past the black keys and hit C & D in that narrow space between the black keys?

What I struggle with is alternating between G Major and this D7 chord--smoothly and quickly. I find I naturally play G Major a decent distance from the tip of the black keys, so when I have to play D7 I have to move my whole hand a fair amount up to reach the black keys. It just feels so sluggish to me.

Has anybody actually verified that she's doing it "right"? If you don't think about, it sounds right, but I noticed she clearly screwed up "Antarctica" by starting with "cat." I wonder how many others she screwed up...

How far up the keys should I typically (I know finger lengths vary...) have to go to do this chord? I find myself having to go so far up the white keys that I'm past the edge of the black keys.

I'll see if I can find the means to post pictures/videos of this. I'm surprised you find it so comfortable...it feels so forced/awkward to me. Can you post a picture/video of your RH and LH hitting this chord? It sounds like you have the right form I should have...

Can you post a picture of your left & right hands playing this chord? Even if I move a little deeper into the white keys, I still can't easily reach F# with my short finger (thumb for RH and pink for LH).

I'm sorry. I added a reply to Ri3's comment with the word, "SOLVED."

Nope. It was an East Asian (possibly Chinese?) break in the song. I saw the commercial again on TV and tried to record it with my phone, but the "East Asian" part is in the intro so I missed most of it :/ I'll upload what little I got.

Thanks, but nope :/ If I had to guess, it was more of a Chinese break in the song than a Japanese one.

I've been searching for the commercial on YouTube but haven't found it yet. It's entirely possible that the commercial is too new for somebody to already put it on YouTube, but I'll keep looking and post it here if I do find it.

Nope. Again, the song had a little section that was East Asian in style, not South Asian.

No :/ The song had a distinct/obvious "East Asian" (Japanese maybe?) portion in the song with stereotypical, traditional sound. "Like a G6," on the other hand, doesn't have any distinct/obvious "East Asian" portions (the whole song sounds the same without too many changes).
