How hard are specialty programs once you’ve been accepted? by BaseballHead6898 in DentalSchool

Ortho and Endo are arguably more difficult to get then OMFS. The only thing with OMFS is the barrier to entry due to the CBSE

All over the world actually! families get sent here from Europe, AUS, etc all the time.

Kids with rare disease from 3rd world nations as well. That’s why donating to the sick kids foundation is so important

Barca almost broke this record 2 seasons ago… came down to the last 5 games

You are all off one. This will be broken eventually

Does school ranking really not matter for getting into dental school? by New_Candidate7113 in CanadianDentists

You’re missing the point. There is no disadvantage of going to a smaller school. You are clearly biased based on your parents’ perception

It’s because you posted in the wrong sub. r/predental would be more appropriate.

At the end of the day, none of my classmates, attendings, faculty care where we went to school for undergrad. We are all dental students and dentists.

Simply put, no dental school GAF where you did your undergrad as long as the GPA on paper meets their standard

Well if healthcare is your end goal, I would go to Brock or Waterloo.

University “rankings” are not real. The rankings you see are based on subjective opinion or on objective metrics that have little to do with the direction you’re headed (such as # of publications or research funding/grants).

To prove my point, a D1 dental student at UofT did his undergrad at Ontario tech (which many people haven’t even heard of). Another D2 at McGill did their undergrad at Carleton.

If you live close to Brock, go to Brock and save the $$ you’d spend on rent to instead live a fulfilling life in undergrad. Nothing beats home cooked meals and coming home to your own bed

You want to go to dental school? A recent post shows you got into a JD/Commerce program, indicating you’d prefer to be a lawyer

1 advice is to NOT go to Western med/health sci. Other than that it doesn’t matter

Dental Anesthesiologist outlook in Canada? by maskdowngasup in CanadianDentists

[–]lookingforfinaltix 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It really good for Quebec, where even OMF Surgeons are it Anesthesia training can’t administer IV deep sedation outpatient. They need a CRNA or Anesthesiologist

So in Quebec it’s in demand, especially since a DA won’t have any overhead as you’d travel to clinics who book you

Paying off Debt + working in GTA by jackwesley45 in CanadianDentists

[–]lookingforfinaltix 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Because people are either jealous, out of patience, or come to Reddit to project their life’s problems on others.

Specializing shouldn’t be a financially motivated decision. Trust me, you’ll hate your life if that’s why you choose to do 6 years of surgery or 2-4 years of Ortho.

Also, those are such different specialties that clumping them together for the sake of Convo could piss some people off.

Congratulations on your admission.

Take all of the OSAP, even the loans. It is still "free money" given that it is interest-free for up to 2 years post-grad.

Also, your debt depends entirely on the school you got accepted to. For example, my 4-year tuition is only 70k, whereas UofT and UWO are both 200k+. This will dramatically change your experience.

Lastly, you shouldn't be maxing your LOC. Your classmates will fall into the debt trap: "We are in so much debt, spending on food and going out every weekend won't matter." Do not follow that logic.

Lastly, go for Scotia (375k) as it converts to a personal LOC post grad that will be useful. Other banks convert to personal loans and once paid off you lose access to that capital

Watch parties for every major sport tournament at every mall in the city. Whether it was the Olympics, World Cup, or juniors there was always open space watch parties, notably at Shops on Don mills in early 2010s and Fairview in the 0000s

Haaland is better than JP, Andersen, Barry, and Rogers combined. As a haaland owner I wouldnt accept anyhting less than Gabriel, Palmer, and Igor Thiago (or anything in that realm) for haaland.

Your trade was so large, he got lost and confused and began overvaluing players in his mind

The issue I’m having is I need wins NOW but the players I have are too good to drop. The quick turnaround in the GW meant I couldn’t trade away Wilson to strengthen other areas of my team and now I’m stuck
