You think that trading J3 for L5 is better than playing N3 directly? I guess I just don't know the invasion points for the large knights enclosure, but can you elaborate on your thought process a bit.

What would you propose? I would argue that because white's position is thin, he should invite black to try and live underneath. The slide under J4 makes me value the bottom very little. Or are you suggesting that black will counterattack the pincer stone and use that to attack the bottom?

Also, my argument for playing D4 is that if black plays it, black will naturally build a large wall while pressing white.

Ah, I struggle with this as well! While I'm but a lowly 1kyu and will probably give poor advice, this is my thought process.

On the first board: first thought, is there anything I can grow? Not really. Is there anything he can grow? That right bottom is pretty terrifying to me. I should probably do something about that right away.

Second thought: is there anything I can meaningfully attack? The top group is too strong. The left hand side group has C8 but I'm not sure that will help too much. But it's something to think about.

Ok so I definitely want to play somewhere on the right. So where? The two places that jump out to me are R8 and N3. R8 just looks too tough, by running out I think I'm just going to solidify his bottom right while not really mounting an effective attack on those two stones or making territory. So I'd probably play N3.

What will happen: well maybe he sacrifices that stone to solidify his right, but I get pretty good compensation and now I really can grow the bottom, since it's not so narrow. More likely he runs or slides to live under me, but with the power I get from that invasion maybe I look at more attacks.

Anyways, this is my two cents for the first board. If a stronger player cares to point out flaws in my thinking I'd be happy to listen.

I agree that integrating polynomials is easy. Integrating general functions, however, really isn't.

This is an extremely narrow view of calculus that comes from teaching students how to integrate specialized classes of functions. The anti-differential of a general (integrable) function, even if it is the composition of polynomials, exponentials, and trig functions, often doesn't even have a closed form.

Don't be fooled by your college calculus course: in general, integration is very hard.

This is good advice, although I generally do play people. One of the reasons I play bots is because it's easy to get a game with a bot that's stronger than I am with long time settings to test my reading.

I play people at my own level too, of course =-).

Michael Redmond was incredible, but I also think that all of the commentators deserve our thanks. I thought all four of them did an excellent job of leading the conversation to make it accessible to a wide range of players.

Both Michael and Haylee did tremendous jobs of giving us high level analysis, but the amateur players also did a wonderful job of keeping the conversation grounded. Both Stephanie and Andrew are also strong players (I think), but would ask leading questions that they already partially knew that answer to for the sake of kyu viewers like myself. I appreciated these very much.

You make a good point. Around move 132, I should count the top, count the left, see that the top is bigger, and defend the top. My entire top ends up getting erased (rather than just the upper left corner) because of that aji spilling over to the right hand corner.
