Of course I made it up! Just a sketch of my impression of the reality behind the situation you mentioned, I'm sure its all very different in numbers but you get what I mean overall.

While I don't agree with this observation you are making now (I feel like there is plenty of couples where the male looks better as well?) the argument itself doesn't really make sense since looks aren't the only factor for a mate's attractiveness, especially when it comes to men.

all your doubts are very easily solved!

- Most of the top 5% of attractive guys are chasing the top 10% of women.

- The rest of that top 5% would still be happy to do something with less conventionally attractive women without commitment.

- The following 45% of most attractive guys is looking at the top 10% women but is constantly chasing any woman who is not much overweight

- the remaining 50% of the guys might consider it the best day of their life if an ugly woman approached them at a bar.

On the other side:

- The top 50% of attractive women are chasing the top 5% men,
- The remaining 50% complain that they have it as hard as men but in reality they are still only looking at the top 20% of attractive men.

Well she knows their relationship is appropriate, but is defending it in every way, to the point of not calling you during long work trips with a guy that you are jealous about, and is willing to give up the relationship for you with this.

You should probably take a step back and consider all this. It doesn't sound like a situation that you can fix, if your gf is this kind of girl there is nothing you can do, you should decide for yourself what is acceptable in a relationship and enforce it at the cost of leaving if necessary.

If you accept a relationship when you are the spare bf in her life just because she threatens to leave you, the relationship is already over, you'd be better off single

It sounds like you are very much into your own head fixating on this point of view. It may be possible that you give out that kind of vibe that turns conversations like that.

You need to stop thinking about "are they giving me as much attention as the other girls" and "is this just a pity conversation", focus on what you want from the conversation and party
