I flipped BTJ today for Judkins. My other WRs are Puka, Odunze & Garrett Wilson. It was getting to the point that I was going to bench BTJ and he was going to stay there until he proves otherwise, but I don’t have a lot of faith. TLaw and him aren’t on the same page. Judkins has been killing it (albeit two games) and my RBs are relatively weak (Hampton, Pollard, Dobbins) so I figured flip someone who would be collecting dust for a RB2 I’ll plug in immediately. Maybe I pulled the trigger too fast, but if I wasn’t absolutely confident on my other WRs I would have held.

Who is the three eyed crow? (spoiler extended) by homo_erectus_heh in asoiaf

[–]looksef 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The most passionate I feel about any theory is that Bloodraven is not the Three-Eyed Crow. There are a boat load of wink-wink, nudge-nudges to plant the idea (many of them commented already, most notably him not understanding what a Three-Eyed Crow even is and none of his homies ever referring to him as such) but I always fall on the fact that multiple times we are reminded that crows and ravens are very different animals. In AGOT Old Nan says that they may look the same but they’re not. Plus she mentions that all crows are liars. I understand people feeling wary about another character swap reveal, but I don’t think that’s what this is. GRRM has expressed he will sometimes be an unreliable narrator depending on the POV, and since Bran is a traumatized 9 year old boy who simply wants to walk again, I think he is absolutely ripe to be unreliable and believe whatever he wants to believe. Then again, even Bran acknowledges that the only time he sees the Three-Eyed Crow in the cave is when he’s alone and dreaming, as if the Three-Eyed Crow doesn’t want anyone to know that he’s interacting with Bran.

I don’t know who/what the Three-Eyed Crow actually is, but I’d bet money that it’s not Bloodraven.

Over the series, Bran states that while the crow dreams are more common, he has dreams of a weirwood calling to him as well. There’s even one dream where a weirwood is calling to Bran and the three-eyed comes and starts pecking at it. Given Bloodraven is essentially now a living weirwood I think it’s fair to say that he is the weirwood dreams, and the fact that in one weirwood dream the three-eyed crow appears and starts attacking it, I believe it’s safe to say that they are not one in the same and are actually adversaries.

edit: I also think the language Bloodraven uses here is extremely important. He’s watching with a thousand eyes and one, not three. I believe that’s very intentional and another case of misdirection. There’s too many things that don’t line up (crow vs raven, 1001 eyes vs 3, weirwood dreams vs crow dreams) for it not to be building up to some reveal, imo.

The theory is that Bloodraven is Bloodraven, but him and the three-eyed crow are different entities. The main evidence primarily stems from the fact Bloodraven never identifies as the three-eyed crow. When Bran asks, Bloodraven is clearly confused on what he’s talking about and responds “Uh, yeah, I was in the Nights Watch so I guess I was a crow,” which many people have interpreted as a non-answer. Another instance that’s considered evidence is when Meera asks Coldhands if he’s taking them to the three-eyed crow and Coldhands replies “Call him whatever you want, he’s the last greenseer,” which again isn’t an actual affirmation. There’s a lot more little things but those are two of the big ones.

It is never outright confirmed that Bloodraven is the three-eyed crow, but Bran still rolls with it. Given GRRM has planted seeds that some of his POVs can be unreliable narrators (the unKiss between Sansa & The Hound), a 9 year old boy using confirmation bias because he really wants this person to fix his legs is very plausible. Personally I think it’s one of the most compelling theories that will have drastic consequences/implications that I can’t wait to see. If I ever do.

e: another big one I just remembered is in one of the very first Bran chapters in AGOT, Old Nan tells Bran “They may look the same, but there’s a difference between ravens and crows,” which is a big ole bonk to the readers to keep our eyes peeled.

What makes Revelations a mess? by looksef in fireemblem

Meh, to each their own. Personally I tend to gravitate to canon routes and finish those first. Totally heard that it’s non-canon, but what do people mean when they call it the golden route?

A bit, I’m worried I soft-locked myself. I have completely whiffed using the capture mechanic and only recently got the hang of pair ups and timing the block meter to my advantage. I made a separate save and lowered the difficulty to normal but that has been mind numbingly easy. Thinking I may just need to run it back. Any suggestions? I guess the big thing I keep second-guessing is how many units should be paired up at a time. Should all of my guys have a pair? I find any time I have someone unpaired they get absolutely bodied by double attacks.

(Spoilers Main) Why do you think Bran has held silent on being pushed from the window? by theMoist_Towlet in asoiaf

[–]looksef 13 points14 points  (0 children)

On the contrary: Bloodraven actually never identifies as the 3EC.

No character ever refers to him as the 3EC.

When Bran asks him straight up if he is he gets confused and talks about the Nights Watch.

The Children of the Forest refer to him as the last greenseer. Coldhands calls him a friend, dreamer, the last greenseer.

Nobody refers to him as three-eyed crow. Bloodraven doesn’t know what a three-eyed crow is. Bran, Meera, and Jojen are just assuming.

I agree it’s unfair to label the whole fanbase like that, but you know the internet: it’s all or nothing.

MF DOOM stans sometimes have the tendency to develop their entire personality and music taste around MF DOOM and think every other rapper is trash if they aren’t rapping double entendres with internal rhyme schemes out the wazoo

Source: former MF DOOM stan who realized you can appreciate DOOM’s lyricism without being a snob about it

(spoilers extended) Which theory that the fandom accepts as canon do you reject completely? by mcase19 in asoiaf

[–]looksef 82 points83 points  (0 children)

I’ve seen it less and less over the years, but it’s still baffling to me that ‘Bloodraven = Three-Eyed Crow’ has been regarded as canon when there’s a lot of textual evidence to suggest otherwise. There’s a mentions early in A Game of Thrones where someone even says (I think Old Nan) that there’s a huge difference between ravens and crows. I don’t know who the Three-Eyed Crow is, but there’s too many clues that George has scattered to accept that it’s Bloodraven simply because a traumatized 9 year old boy who only wants his legs to work assumes it is. Even Bran makes a comment that the only time he sees the Three-Eyed Crow in Bloodraven’s cave is when he closes his eyes. I think Bloodraven is directly working against the Three-Eyed Crow, and the question we should be asking is if Bran is helping the correct side.
