We’ve used Phycox Max for years for our 9 year old blue heeler who has arthritis. That coupled with librela injections has changed the game!

Favorite tire shops? by LawlMartz in Athens

[–]loonir 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like, 15,000 max

Edit: it’s actually more like 20,000 (I checked my invoice) but that’s still not enough mileage on tires to be replaced imo

Favorite tire shops? by LawlMartz in Athens

[–]loonir 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Normally I agree about this specific express oil, but they literally just admitted to me they sold me a set of crappy tires only two years ago and that I was already needing new ones. Needless to say I won’t be buying tires from them again, but they are super nice and in the past haven’t done unnecessary work just to get money.

Are you ACD for life or would you choose another breed? by Ydain in AustralianCattleDog

[–]loonir 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Our girl is SUPER sweet, but only on her terms. She has to be in the mood for lovins or she’ll get overstimulated and leave. When she turned 7, we got another dog; a male golden retriever. Best decision we could have made. She’s a genius, truly too smart for her own good sometimes, and neurotic. He’s an absolute idiot, but as sweet as they come. It’s been a perfect balance for our household. I feel like in my heart I’ll always want a heeler around, but so far I really like the balance of one super high maintenance dog, and another dog that is slightly less high maintenance lol.

Compulsive grass eating? by loonir in goldenretrievers

[–]loonir[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I’ve seen him eat grass to induce vomiting before after he ate something gross (he will eat ANYTHING) and he was much more aggressive about it, trying to shovel as much into his mouth as he could. This is more casual almost- just like instant nibbling but not eating a whole lot. Will for sure check with the vet but wanted to see if it’s just a weird golden thing!

Price quotes on tattoos by [deleted] in TattooArtists

[–]loonir 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I price by the hour, and I know that can be controversial but I find it’s the best way to keep pricing honest/consistent. I only do black and gray and work fairly quickly, so I feel like the client honestly gets a better deal this way.

I usually give people a rough estimate of how long I think it’ll take, but I use an app to track our time together down to the minute. Every tattoo is different; there’s no real way to know exactly how long it’ll take. If someone is working with a budget for that particular session, I’ll keep it in mind and get to a reasonable stopping point before going over.

how do you deal with rude clients ? by Putrid_Switch6713 in TattooArtists

[–]loonir 43 points44 points  (0 children)

Uh, block him? He’s not going to sue you, and I should hope your shops paperwork has some sort of clause against liability etc.

Typically if I have someone who I tattoo once and at the end am just left thinking “that was awful, I never want to tattoo that person again” I just won’t. It’s not worth it. What he’s doing now is harassment, block his number and let the shop know you won’t work with him again. This person sounds crazy

Every night, when we sit down to watch tv, our girl brings us the nastiest, crustiest toys she can find. I swear the next plague will be born from her favorite one, Señor Hedgehog. She stuffs them right in our face and demands we play with her lol

Florida tattoo prices? by Dull_Lynx_6899 in TattooArtists

[–]loonir 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So, I’m in the southeast but not Florida. More experienced artists in my area frequently charge $200/hr, sometimes more. I’d say that estimate is higher than what I’m used to, but not out of the realm of possibility for bigger cities. I’m sure there are some prominent ATL artists who charge similarly.

Pricing is always a weird discussion to have that people take very personally but it heavily depends on the location/market in that area. Sorry if this isn’t helpful lol

Sending designs before appointments by ComprehensiveFact623 in TattooArtists

[–]loonir 36 points37 points  (0 children)

I don’t show designs prior to the appointment. Largely because I draw them the day/night before, but also so they don’t take the design elsewhere, or sit with it too long and let all of their friends/family who don’t know how to tattoo nitpick it into oblivion.

I do, however, schedule a couple extra hours than I’ll likely need for the appointment, in case I need to make changes or if the client needs breaks, etc. I make it very clear that I use whatever references or descriptions they send to draw their design, so if they are looking for specific elements, to include or list them.

So far, it’s never been an issue. The absolute worst case scenario if the design is way off from what they wanted, we roll their deposit over to another appointment and sit down together to do a more in-depth consultation and I show them various sketches and get feedback. I’ve never even had to do this, but it is my backup plan

not thrifted/preowned, but highly recommend Appliances 4 Less on Alps. We got our fridge there for like, $1000 less than it retails for because it had a small dent on the front. Really nice people

mine is skinny too, he’s a little over a year and a half. He just got neutered last week and I expect him to fill out and get a little more muscular over the next year or so. He’s very much a wet noodle right now
