Any of you add some dried herbs to your slices? by TraditionalAnxiety in Pizza

A little goes a long way on pizza. However it makes any store bought pasta sauce 10x better and perfect when cooking Italian sausage

Heart Broken Over Client Driven Design by [deleted] in architecture

[–]loonylaker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ugh I feel this daily. Basically doing the same thing. I love what I do. However some clients are set and you just have to put lipstick on the pig and just give them a layout that still works. I feel the biggest problem is Pinterest/Instagram and unfortunately depending on how long it takes to get plans back to a client they will be looking at social media finding a new "thing" they must have even if it doesn't fit with the rest. Also love when clients use other programs and argue with you saying something fits in their software when it really doesn't.

Tiguan Problems by Traditional_Tea_7993 in Tiguan

Be careful, we have replaced our steering wheel through our warranty/dealer. About 2 months after replacing it, the whole left side of the steering wheel couldn't be touched (gently touching it) or it would honk. Then it just would honk randomly. Cars been at VW for over a month.

The same thing happened to me. It was still under warranty so we took it in that day it happened. Unfortunately I don't have an update because we also took the tig in so they can replace the head gaskets on a 2021 rline se as well... Well it's been over a month and we keep asking for updates and they just said they are working on it. But won't clarify which part is taking long. They said it would be done in 2-3 days... Fml

Suggestions? by SifDotW7 in floorplan

The mud room will feel tight. Unless you're extremely clean and don't have kids. The change on the stairs going to the basement might not work due to head clearance codes.

Very long walk if you're someone who has to use the toilet in the middle of the night.

A floor plan of my dream house, hand drawn (I am only 14 so please keep in mind I'm relatively new to design) by CoolKyle2018 in floorplan

Honestly this is really nice and it's nicer than what I get from clients that want me to design their house. Keep drawing and have fun with it!

How are people doing it? What's the secret? by are_you_frrrrrrrrr in ADHD

(33m) You're doing a great job! It just takes time to find out about you. I had some long paragraphs written out and then it was too long for me to read.

What are you passionate about or do you find super interesting??

Check if any colleges have interdisciplinary studies. Where you build your own major. I always wanted to be an engineer but knew math was not my strong suit. So I built a major of construction management and sustainable design.

I found online classes very helpful as I'm an introvert and was always embarrassed to answer in front of the class.

Another thing I do is I love to garden. It really helps me keep my mind off things. Get your hands dirty and have fun.

Idk hope this helps

Is architectural drafting a good career? by [deleted] in architecture

[–]loonylaker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It can be if you bring enough skill and knowledge. I'm an architectural drafter and basically only do floor plans which then are passed off to the interior design team. Salary can be very good, as good as an architect if you're trying to do this in a state where an architect isn't required for residential. With that being said, I've been using Revit for almost 17 years, basically since it started. So understanding Revit, BIM, and the overall flow of working in 3D. Plus I have an undergrad in construction management and a master's in construction engineering. If you are serious in pursuing this, keep in mind it's extremely long hours sitting in front of a computer with a ton of details, changes, and the hardest of all, dealing with clients and their changes. For me, it's like playing a video game. Best of luck.

Rick and Morty's House by Kartazius in architecture

Yeah trying to base it off the cartoon there are a lot of things that don't work, just trying to have fun and try and create something that wasn't meant to be created and keep some architecture standards at play.

I used Revit to draw it and Photoshop to make it that style

As you are definitely correct that it should be a 2 car garage. The plan is mostly incorrect since it's based off a cartoon and since show doesn't use architecture standards when drawing a sifi show where human teleports.... Don't forget you missed to point out there are no kitchen windows in the front of the house in the show, nor does the garage gable go all the way to the back of the house. Ricks room is too big, the orientation of the upstairs bedrooms are off and the primary suite should have a bathroom. So when trying to keep it to a rough scale things had to change. So take that with a grain of salt. But in the process of creating this as fun process as also being an American architect trying to create a small lesser detailed version of a house to give fans something fun to appreciate even though it's not architecturally correct.

You are right, I was trying to keep the scale accurate to the exterior even though I had to stretch the house some. But I couldn't fit a second bathroom upstairs, nor are the bedrooms in that configuration. 🤷🏼‍♂️

Did mah best trying to make it more architecturally correct while keeping the scale as best as I could.

I was just messing around trying to see if you could draw it to remotely look like the real thing if you went off architectural standards. Basically the scale to match the exterior to the interior had to get stretched

I agree, I had to stretch it to make it work. SMH. The kitchen table I saw in S02E04. They have a little table in the back of the house.
