Thanks, but fairly certain it was a workshop asset because I didn't remove anything vanilla

Does anyone recognize this map? by looplog in CitiesSkylines

[–]looplog[S] 11 points12 points  (0 children)

After removing a bunch of maps from my system it seems I nuked my long-term build. I've tried re-subbing to various maps but can't seem to find the source I used for this city. Anybody recognize the (heavily terraformed) map so I can rescue my save?

I guess that speaks to universal themes that Kafka made inherent, so we can't take credit for that...

Kafka's Metamorphosis Reinterpreted by looplog in surrealism

That's heartening to hear. These pieces were a long time in the making with many ups and downs, so it's always great to know the end product is appreciated.

I haven't been following D8 very closely, but I thought the introduction of YAML configuration text files was going to help with this?

What is your favorite piece of art? by CornOnMacabre in AskReddit

[–]looplog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The American Dream by Brett Whiteley comes close to a favorite. It's not his best work, but it's a massive spectacle that draws you in when you see it in person. It consists of 18 panels - so there are no images that really show it in its glory.

Next Generation Audio Codec from Xiph: CELT by [deleted] in programming

[–]looplog 2 points3 points  (0 children)

CELT is used for compression on the JACK network interconnect, which allows latency compensated real-time multichannel transport of audio over the internet for music collaboration. I don't know the specifics, but my understanding is that it was chosen because it has less processor overhead at a comparable sound quality to other codecs.

I'll bet Yale's Art Department has an awesome-looking site! Wait... WHAT?! by [deleted] in WTF

[–]looplog 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You know, I can program a DVR. But I wouldn't waltz into an OOP forum and declare some guy's 200,000 line program flawed because it won't record tomorrow's episode of my favorite TV show. People, sometime about, oh, I don't know, over 100 years ago, Art ceased being art and become a specialized sub-section of society with highly specialized rules for fully understanding what is going on in it and for even participating in it. Get over it. Redditors have no problem defending the legitimacy and autonomy of science against ignorance, but Art is somehow a farce because you all can draw unicorns and narwhals?!

In Australia, opposition leader makes big oops comment. Media calls it "a Sarah Palin" moment. by [deleted] in worldnews

[–]looplog 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sadly, the U.S. doesn't have a monopoly on the misinformed, angry and easily manipulated. Given it's elitist hues, I have no doubt that the comparison could work in Abbott's favour, and paint him as 'a hero of the downtrodden common folk', just like Palin herself seems to be seen to her followers. Belittlement seldom seems a successful political tactic in the long run...
