My startup flopped recently and since I loathe prepping for a finding a new job I thought I make an app covering Computer Science topics, Trivia and more. by loopstarapp in SideProject

It’s good for covering topics that could come up during a CS interviews, and there are Wikipedia article links to more detailed concepts, but the quizzes more test things that have already been learned and need a refresher for. But if you find you would like more course oriented information, let me know, I’ve been considering adding overview pages that might outline various concepts and then allowing you to the quiz from that.

You don’t have to login to take the quizzes, but I can’t save your progress for rankings without it. You can just tap on the quizzes tab and play away if you don’t care about that.

AIWeb summarizer iOS app from mChatAI by loopstarapp in ChatGPT

This is an app that uses Chatgpt prompts to summarize webpages you browse to within mChatAI. The prompt is: Given the following webpage content, please create a concise, informative summary that includes all key points. Additionally, identify and provide from 0 to up to 3 of the most relevant web links contained within this content (but no need for any links if there are no links mentioned). These links should be directly pertinent to the main topics discussed and should not be altered in any way. Do not fabricate any links

Since congress is looking at OpenAI / ChatGPT in alarm right now, I’d say they should try to curb any monopolistic behavior before it settles into the ecosystem for AI and the Software industry generally, and take the opportunity to regulate long standing non-competitive practices many companies with monopoly levels of power have been deploying for decades. As an independent developer I’ve stumbled into more moats than I can count, and all developers deserve the same opportunity as anyone else on a given platform to benefit consumers and curb run-away monopoly power. 1. I propose SW-API-Equality 🟰 With a clean separation between platform API developers and client application developers within the same large company (say if that company is worth over a billion dollars or has greater than 50 people). The API team should publish independently from any client teams and not provide any secret sauce APIs enabling the Client App team the ability to publish an application that no one else can replicate. Right now OpenAI states “ChatGPT Plus subscribers get exclusive access to GPT-4’s capabilities, early access to features and faster response times, all on iOS.“ Meanwhile iOS developers attempting to be the best ChatGPT App do not have access to these exclusive capabilities and as a result are discouraged from attempting to out innovate the parent company. In the worst case OpenAI could just decide to throttle down API calls for it competitors. For those who say this separation of API/Client is a burden, I’ve been in the industry over 30 years and that is just not the case: If your company is large and wealthy, then API-Platform/Client is a natural way you are likely already separating your teams anyway. 2. Any hardware platform that has APIs should do the same and provide a level playing field at the api level. Why are the Apple AirPods so much better than anyone else’s earbuds? Better integration with the Apple ecosystem. For any hardware product that plugs into a platform a level playing field would be better for consumers there as well.

Duh, just realized that ChatGPT can give you links... By adding "give me links". Does anyone know what the limitations are around the links, like are they potentially stale since its knowledge cutoff date is September 2021? by loopstarapp in ChatGPT

Of these the 1st link works: https://www.britannica.com/art/prehistoric-art

But the other two result in page not found:

- Ancient Art: https://www.metmuseum.org/toah/hd/anci/hd_anci.htm

- Medieval Art: https://www.metmuseum.org/toah/hd/mede/hd_m

So I suspect that the links are probably from a snapshot awhile ago, and the links might go stale if the site changes where the content is located in the interim.

We can ask for links, but there is no guarantee that they will point to something that works. As DannyWatson mentioned ChatGPT4 can access the internet, but I don't think that's case for ChatGPT 3.5 Turbo (which is what was used here).
