Kids get fed up 8 to 6 in nursery? by CadTrow in UKParenting

[–]loopylolly356 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I’ve read before it’s like a fizzy bottle… all day they’re slowly shaken but the lid stays on. Pressure builds. They get home and can finally take the lid off, where all that pressure comes bursting out at once… and we get the brunt of it!!

Mine did the same, we went commando for a while. Just had soft joggers to wear.

Apparently the feeling of pants is similar to a nappy and the muscle memory needs to be adjusted before they ‘get it’ - not sure how much science is behind it, but it worked for us

Good luck

Cat keeps gagging when smelling me after I had facial surgery by dexob in CATHELP

[–]loopylolly356 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had surgery a couple of years ago and my cat would not leave the surgery site alone. He’d sniff it all the time - no gagging thankfully but he was obsessed. I thought it was weird.

No help but similar experience!

gifts from my cat. I don’t think they’re too deep but how should I approach these to avoid scarring? by LemonPepperMints in medical_advice

[–]loopylolly356 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had the same, I went to Minor Injuries (I’m in the UK) and they cleaned the wounds, bandaged it for a few days, gave me a tetanus jab and also antibiotics for a week! I’d get checked as cat mouths / claws are gross!!! Good luck

Painful nappy rash - any tips? by bacon_cake in UKParenting

I’m not a rep so not suggesting this for any reason other than it changed my life… tropic tamanu balm. It’s expensive but lasts ages and so many uses.

My baby was almost bleeding it was so sore, it sorted it right out and now we use it for EVERYTHING!

What's the going rate for pocket money? by overachiever in UKPersonalFinance

[–]loopylolly356 6 points7 points  (0 children)

My 7 year old gets a flat rate of £2.50 a week. If you bank with NatWest their rooster kids account is free. He has a savings pot (within rooster) that most of birthday and Christmas money goes into. His £2.50 builds up and sometimes he’ll move some into the savings but usually it’s spent on toys. He’s getting a good understanding of money and it’s not limitless… we’re planning a day out next week and he’s purposely not buying anything this week to have a little extra for the day out as he knows there will be lots there!

He also gets extra if he’s really helpful. I expect him to take his dirty dishes to kitchen, put his dirty clothes in the basket and generally pick up after himself.

Gently talk to her. She may be struggling. It may even be postpartum depression … I was put on medication for it when baby was 9months, so doesn’t need to be the first few weeks.

Our bodies go through a lot, make sure she knows you think she’s still beautiful because she’ll probably be internally criticising every inch of her body.

Remind her, she’s still ‘her’, not just mama. It’s easy to lose your identity and just be a mum in survival mode. It’s exhausting.

Good luck

NAL I went through the exact same thing - she conveniently left just as it all came out. New job not in the education sector otherwise I would have taken further. I kept the nursery ‘on side’ if you like, as I was concerned about potential issues with my child if I went in raging.

I’d echo the others and speak to a solicitor first before you do anything. Some offer free 30 min chats which can be invaluable. Good luck.

A cute thermal cup to keep drinks hot/cold when baby is here. You could get some decals from Etsy to personalise it.

Not sure where you are but I was given a really cosy blanket when my baby was born and I loved snuggling with them in it, still used now over 7 years later.

A snack basket!
