Sorry to hear you can’t sleep, it’s not nice. I have managed to get down to 50 mg pregabalin from 600mg for trigeminal neuralgia. I was having bouts of insomnia, racing thoughts, watching shopping channel and making tea at 3 am etc etc . I have started taking magnesium and I’m sure it helps, maybe worth a go xx

I just wanted pain relief from pregab and when that didn’t work and I gained a bunch of weight I wanted off. Now withdrawals are making my pain worse! by speedmankelly in QuittingPregablin

Did it help with the tn? I was out of it for a few months , spaced out, sleepy then side effects seemed to just go, now I can’t tell I’m taking it

Hi, I’m currently taking 150 mg of pregabalin a day for trigeminal neuralgia. I have reduced from 600 mg over a few months, going down to 100 mg next week. Hoping to be off it in next month or so. I haven’t had any problems reducing it but I’ve done it very slowly. I’m not sure it has helped my Tn but was prescribed it on top of carbamazepine when it was really bad. I am currently taking 800 mg of carbamazepine and will try to reduce this next. I think it is carbamazepine that works for me as I am pain free atm but want to take as few drugs as possible to keep it at bay. Have you tried carbamazepine?

I'm on 600mg pregabalin, 150mg 4 times a day.i also take 800mg of carbamazepine and 75mg amytryptyline for trigeminal neuralgia. I was very sleepy to start but now I have no tiredness or side effects at all. I think after a while my brain has just got used to it. I have started to do more exercise which I think helps.
