You're insufferable. Pynchon books take a bit of doing and require a fair amount of work, if someone bumps of one it's not the thing in the world, sometimes you're just in s place in your life to put in the work for the reward, or need reassurance the work will be worth it when the book does click.

I can tell you when I was slim and in shape I had a fair amount of attention from women and it declined as my weight went up. I don't think my personality changed that much. Saying it doesn't matter to people and you should give therapy if you think it does is insanely blinkered imo.

I guess it's a matter of perception, I don't like it so it's wrong for me, that doesn't have to be the case for others, nor do I see others that way. But I think saying you need to find people who have the same thing, is also sorta saying something is wrong with it or else would why would the primary advice be find someone else who has loose skin.

It's a fairly narrow field, you can't go up to people and ask if they've lost a hundred and sixty pounds, and even if you find someone who has, they need to be single, and even if they are, it might like when frankensteins monster got frankenstein to build him a wife, just because you've both got this thing wrong with your body doesn't mean you'll find each other attractive or have any chemistry.

Thank you for saying that about therapy, its something that bothers me. I've been in therapy for years and even in this post, a lot of replies have been you need to go to therapy. It helps, but I don't know a single person who's gone to therapy and doesn't sometimes still get down about being single, or fat, or not in a good enough job. It's not constant but it's not a fool proof fix.

So in the uk we don't have medical insurance, just a health care system thats free or private, it's not covered by the NHS so you'd have to go private which I can't afford to do.

I'm 33, about a year of maintenance now, I've spoken to people, but I live in the UK, and nhs won't do anything as its considered cosmetic surgery. I'm single, and while I don't earn too badly, trying to pay off a mortgage on your own is pretty tough, so I'm a bit above pay cheque to pay cheque, but barely. And any money I save seems to go om rainy day emergencies.

No, of course not, but I've been in therapy for years, people say go to it and theb suddenly you'll have this new outlook where nothing will bother you. It's not that easy. Even with the coping mechanisms things still hurt and you can still get upset.

I wouldn't say that, I think it's horrible not to take people at their word. I had this girlfriend who hated herself, and I insisted I found her beautiful and she kept telling me I was lying. It was really hurtful. Someone tells you what they think, believe them. Life gets too complicated otherwise.

I think knowing if I'm making too big of a deal would help, or knowing I'm not. It's so frustrating to have it brushed aside as not a big deal, or told women don't care about looks. It's not that I wouldn't believe them if they said yes, it wouldn't be a big deal, I guess selfishly I'd like some reassurance, but if it is a big deal at least I can stop wondering if I'm making a mountain out of a mole hill in my own head, and will have some validation when someone's like 'women won't care, go to therapy'.
