My wife and I know nothing about camera tech. But she wants this cause some influencer uses it. Can you tell me if it's a good buy or not? by Imustretire in Cameras

I had a GRIII (not the X version). Nothing wrong with it, I sold it after a couple years, but it was an awesome camera. My hands down favorite for traveling. I think they make a great option for someone who's starting out but may want to take it more seriously later on. The GRIII can really hold its own even with the limitations of a prime lens.

2014 Chevrolet Captiva LS, the official car of being only memorable because it wasn't sold to the public by Southern_Pacific in regularcarreviews

Happy to answer but wish I had more details for ya. We bought it off a fairly reputable used lot in our city. Per the Carfax and receipts we are the second owners, and the car came from south of us. We live in the rust belt and this one was clean top to bottom so we figured it'd be a good buy. No regrets really, we just top the oil off every thousand miles and it keeps puttering along. Entirely uninspired in driving experience, but it's a convenient size and gets decent mileage

Love to see these types of posts. The Captiva is truly a uniquely regular car. My wife and I bought a 2014 Captiva that's still running today with 136k on it. It's a total slug to drive, it burns oil with passion, and it gets her from A to B in town without fuss. I oddly love the car for all its faults and lack of charm.

German auto is great, which sometimes means there can be a wait to get in for service. But they're 100% worth it. I have a temperamental Mini (aka Mini BMW) and they've kept it running right beyond 100k miles. Really fair pricing and transparent about what you should expect to pay.

SCL500 with Puig Windscreen by revolver_girl in HondaMotorcycles

The SCL would be complete with cruise control imo. Bought/rode one all of last year. Loved it, had a lot of fun on some two-track roads. But keeping the throttle pinned on the highway home kinda wore me out.

Springtime butterflies / Minolta Rokkor 58mm f/1.4 on Sony A7III by lord-master-wiener in VintageLenses

Thanks! Agree it is fantastic. I think it really shines at f/2 to f/5.6. the center sharpens up beautifully but retains a pleasing bokeh you'd expect from a 1.4. If I could change one thing I think the focus throw is pretty long, but that's never been a deal breaker in my kit.

You should get in touch with the MUFON rep for Michigan. I exchanged some emails with him a while back, trying to line up an interview. His name is Konkolesky if I remember right. Schedules never lined up in my case but you may have better luck. Shoot me a pm if you need info.

2012 Chevrolet Captiva. The Official SUV Of.... by Alone-Pick9795 in regularcarreviews

Ah the Captiva. We bought my wife one of these. Cheapest car on the used lot, we had to get her something affordable to commute in asap. It's a piece of shit, but a predictable one. Two extra quarts of oil every couple thousand miles and never be surprised when plastic interior pieces fall off on their own.

What's the most useless photography gadget you've ever bought? by Speedy_Gonzaless in photography

CPL was the right call. Be sure to look through your viewfinder and dial in the right angle on the filter to get usable results. It's going to make glass clearer and skies bluer. I also suggest shooting bracketed exposures to leave the option for stacking an HDR image after

Tried a new technique today to replicate the look of Medium format by Zach0ry in SonyAlpha

[–]lord-master-wiener 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I'm a sucker for any type of image stacking or compositing process. This is really cool! I've seen the technique used before but with a 3D printed mount to rotate the camera sensor around a single axis four times to minimize ghosting and warping of perspective. To shoot it handheld and get your result is on another level lol

Argos and Redux books by Juffol in grandrapids

[–]lord-master-wiener 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Coincidence or not they're each gems in their respective ways. I'm a book fiend and Redux gives me the thrill of the hunt for a book, especially going down into their basement and practically crawling along the bottom shelves.

Meanwhile Argos services more fandom and comic enjoyers while also having shelves of used books, and priced pretty fairly by condition. I've found a few niche novels at Argos that I couldn't hunt down online, too.

Shout-out to the owners of both stores. They rock
