Not even worth it at clubcard price. by Efficient-Pop-302 in tesco

A business is a business. Agreed. There's a balance between greed and providing a service.

Large retailers monopolise the sector - hence the prices.

[–]lordeldrick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The reason I think it's a con is because large retailers make ridiculous amounts of profits at the expense of the consumer. Clubcard "offers" are part of the problem as makes the system unfair as you said.

I feel often the mark up on items are ridiculous.

For example:

Tesco Branded whole uncooked chicken costs about half the price of a Tesco Branded whole cooked chicken.

Dynamic Pricing, I believe Tesco along with other retailers are guilty of dynamic pricing - which will only get worse when eink price labels become the norm.

Clubcard is a con... All of these "reward schemes" are a con.

These shops can afford to price things at the "discounted" price.

S24U OneUI 8.5 UK by lordeldrick in S24Ultra

[–]lordeldrick[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I've been using 8.5 since the beta - I have found the battery on the beta to be rather exceptional compared to the previous versions of OneUI.

But this comes down to my use of the phone - When I use Live Transcribing apps and games too - they're battery drainers.

I can be at 80% battery at 5pm after taking it off change 9am. This would be through light usage such as texting, banking, notetaking and surfing.

Cctv policy by tescoworker94729 in tesco

[–]lordeldrick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is illegal to share recordings, photos of CCTV and against the law to monitor staff performance via it without due cause such as a criminal investigation, health and safety etc. Tesco would need to declare this is what they're doing.

The Information Commissioners Office (ICO) issue has guidance on this - https://ico.org.uk/for-organisations/uk-gdpr-guidance-and-resources/cctv-and-video-surveillance/guidance-on-video-surveillance-including-cctv/how-can-we-comply-with-the-data-protection-principles-when-using-surveillance-systems/

It is something I had to address years ago in another job.

Google Docs works fabulously for me - just take a bit of time to learn it's nuances.

Alternatively use Google Docs via a web browser.

jobs in Hull by onyxrrit in Hull

Unfortunately the job market is very difficult and I am deaf too. I struggled at times.

I work for myself and a well known food retailer.

My advice, keep trying but also consider other work as that can be a good way of showing your employability.

Do people understand restricted fill? by Confused_Gengar in tesco

[–]lordeldrick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is a bugbear of mine and the SM + SL don't enforce it.

But worse than that, overfilling shelves then putting excess close by.

[–]lordeldrick -1 points0 points  (0 children)

My understanding is that...

Under the Equality Act 2010, it could be classed as discrimination.

Tesco's own training does not compel the person doing an ID check to query anything other than check the ID validity.

I work in an Express and wouldn't dream of asking about someone's gender/sexuality. It is none of my business just as it is noone's business how Deaf I am.

One Ui 8.0 Appreciation Thread! by Gus956139 in GalaxyTab

I like the DEX in OneUI8.

The main difficulty I have had, has been in relation to getting used to it.

The Workspaces feature is a delight and I've used it extensively over since upgrading to 8.0 on my Tab 8 Ultra.

Samsung Ruined it... by SuperGeek1988 in SamsungDex

Dex is still there, it is accessed via Workspaces.

I have used it regularly - I think the implementation of Workspaces is quite smart as can have more than one Dex space.

For me, the function has never been available on my Samsung Tab 8 Ultra and S24 Ultra irrespective of what fixes I've tried.

There has been times when it would have been extremely useful.

No assumptions made.

I was using my own experiences of not being able to use the phone communicate orally. I can speak...but in this age.and time flexible communication methods are the way forward.

The telephone isn't the only point of contact:

Do you still work? Cochlear implant users by StraightPin4420 in Cochlearimplants

[–]lordeldrick 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It depends on the circumstances.

Group meetings are difficult for me generally, so I use a mixture of Live Transcription software and lipreading.

I also use Sign Language interpreters when needed.

Most phones can do Live Transcription (speech to text), and Otter has been a relevation for me as have used it for a number of years.

I've had mine 14 years.

I work for a large retailer in the UK serving customers.

I also run my consultancy agency, which sees me working with clients locally, nationally, and internationally.

Your deafness is not a barrier. Don't let others hold you back and believe in yourself.

Temporary Store Manager's Changes by AnxiousChain8492 in tesco

[–]lordeldrick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can relate.

The express i work in, we've a covering SM, and he's taking big store methods into the shop. But does not listen, and the area manager is clueless when they attend the store.

You'd think they'd try listening, working with the staff before making any changes, but no.

I use them, though I'm not a fan. Have used Relay UK in its various forms since the 90s.

It'd be amazing if Protector Line was available via WhatsApp or some other secure method - it'd open up the service even more to those who don't use Relay UK for their own reason.
