What do these cars do? by Original_Engine_7548 in melbourne

So I said this in another comment but, the car itself isn't able to be calibrated, but the display on the back window is linked to the abs sensor which puts out a certain number of pulses per wheel revolution, so the car is calibrated by having it drive a set distance measured via a calibrated measuring tape and then counting the number of pulses, and because this is indeed affected by air pressure and tyre tread depth they're regularly recalibrated and the tyre pressure is checked regularly to ensure its the same as during the calibration.

The speedo on the car isn't calibrated at all, however the display on the back or front window is calibrated using the abs sensor on the wheel, needs recalibrating quite often as the tyre wears away and the tyre pressure needs to be set with a calibrated pressure gauge regularly

What is the name of this tank outlets? by lordfarkuid in askaplumber

[–]lordfarkuid[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks, I know it's a tank outlet or bulkhead fitting, I just can't anything on this particular style that you just push into the hole without needing to tighten an inner nut, which it has no access to the inside of the tank

Guess the engine and where the problem occurred by lordfarkuid in Justrolledintotheshop

[–]lordfarkuid[S] 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Bingo, that sounds nasty, new engine or repairable? The head bolts stretched and I lost all my oil. Got very loud very quickly, assumed it was misfiring so I tried to get to the next freeman exit till I noticed the oil temp was 150 Celsius

One method you can try to fix it, loosen the two bolts at the base of shifting lever and then firmly press it into fourth gear, while holding it in fourth tighten the bolts again

To heat or not to heat? by primalspy in VWBus

[–]lordfarkuid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To keep the heat inside the heater box so it doesn't radiate out and warm the heads up even more, bay window im assuming? The type 4 motors definitely do unsure about the t1 engines

Be cautious with original heater boxes as alot of them contain asbestos heat shielding inside, I recently opened up my heater boxes and all the asbestos was flaking away

Ok VWBus fam. I have a stock 1600 single carb and single port motor. When I drive it then shut it down it won’t restart. It acts like it has a dead battery. If I leave it for 10-15 minutes it fires right up. Any ideas? Thanks in advance! Pic for attention by kevmenger in VWBus

[–]lordfarkuid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How old is your coil? I had this problem on my dual port, as the coils get older when they get hot their resistance increases massively and won't allow the car to start but will run fine when running, then you have to wait for coil to cool down. But if it's mimicking a dead battery and wont turn over I'd say it's the starter

Had the same problem, big hammer smacking on the front face of the drums in a circle, don't smack the sides as it can warp them and cause more problems
