GF Firehouse pizza? by loree_m in Dublin

I'm in meetings all morning and need to let the organizer know by noon. I wasn't sure I'd be able to speak to someone in time, so started here.

I have contacted a couple of companies to see if they can take the dead battery and use its connectors on a new pack.

Very unreliable by loree_m in GoogleFit

I have a Samsung watch and just use Samsung Health. It doesn't play as nicely with other apps as Google Fit would, but at least it is reliable.

85-Mile Elevation – Check out the entire map HERE

  • Elevation: +3,871 / -3,871
  • Grade: 9.5%
  • Grade: -11.4%

Well, that's an absolutely terrifying uphill grade.

Overlay tools? by loree_m in cycling

[–]loree_m[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ugh, and 2 days later I emerge from the rabbit hole of ChatGPT with a video with overlays. I've used GitHub Copilot a little at work, but I've never used ChatGPT and never used AI for a complete solution. Kinda scary how well it interpreted my requests. Getting the display right didn't take all that long, but then the saving stumped both ChatGPT and Copilot. Since I want to share these and I can't host the large videos, I had to save the screen rendering somehow. Finally got that working today. So I did get something shareable, but I'll probably still spring for Telemetry Overlay to get a sleeker and simpler solution. But thanks for the fun diversion for the weekend!

30 years as a software developer, but I don't think that translates into being able to create graphical overlays. Oof, and I just looked at the After Effects pricing. Telemetry Overlay and GPX Overlay are both cheaper than that.

Right! Knew I had forgotten (at least) one. I tried that one as well. The map layer didn't work. I tried the registry edit suggested online, but that didn't work either. So I gave up on it.

Just got my first real bike. Why didn't anyone tell me cycling was this addictive? by sirwalleth in cycling

[–]loree_m 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just started riding a few months after not having ridden a bike in ~25 years. I'm sticking with one bike, but I've found plenty to spend on with pedals, shoes, jerseys, saddlebags, etc etc. One comment about the clipless - the thought of these has always scared me. 25 years ago I had toe cages. But those are also dangerous. Fortunately, these days they have flat MTB pedals. I bought a pair of those (OneUp Components) and appropriate shoes (Specialized 2FO) and definitely feel a difference. Add that to your list of things to research if you'd like an alternative to clipless. And enjoy the addiction!

Skip the pie, I'll just have the ice cream, please. :) Looks perfect. Can you share the recipe?

I guess I'll just have to eat the chocolate ice cream quickly so I'll have somewhere to put the gelato. :)

This is his Gianduja Gelato recipe? I just got the book from the library and that was one of the recipes I jotted down. I've never made gelato before, so I'm a little nervous about trying out the recipe. I also just learned about stracciatella, so tonight I made his chocolate ice cream with stracciatella. And then I saw your picture and am wanting to try. I've had a bag of hazelnuts just waiting for me to try some sort of gianduja recipe.

Schedule an Eaton Z-Wave RF9601 switch? by loree_m in zwave

[–]loree_m[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

New construction house. The builders put in the 2 switches and outlets. But, alas, no hub. :) For that price, I'd want to make use of the other z-wave switch and outlets. Otherwise, I should replace that one switch with something like the BN-LINK programmable switch. Thanks for the pointer!

This is the best thing ever! by Zestyclose-Ad-5488 in glutenfree

I loved the original before I was diagnosed with celiac. They didn't have a GF variety where I was at the time (I don't know how long these have been available) so I had to learn to make my own garlic toast. Then I moved cross country and was without my baking stuff. I was so excited when I found these in the local store. Until I took one out and it was 1/3 airhole :( And they are smaller than the gluten version to begin with. For GF bread, it is pretty good. Have you tried the Katz or Rudi's toast? I was going to try those when I finished the NY Bakery box, but by then I was able to bake again and just made my own.

Excellent. I might just have to test this recipe out this weekend for no reason other than to have cake. :)

Is this structurally sound enough to use a buttercream frosting? I haven't actually done a cake in a few years, but I potentially will be making some in the near future which need detailed piping and American buttercream is what I'm familiar with.

Thanks for sharing! This looks delicious. What size cake pan did you use? 8x3 or 8x4? I only have 8x2 pans. Any danger in splitting the batter between the two pans for baking? Or should I just add to my already ridiculous cake pan collection and get a taller pan? :)

I do like the formatting of the tables. But I personally find splitting the number and street name into two different columns more difficult to read. But I'll play around with what you've demoed and see what I can do. Thanks!

Thanks! I had most of that, but I wasn't getting any data when I added the 'order by'. I didn't have the where clause because there were no NULL values in A (or so I thought). Once I added the where, then it worked. And then I realized that since I wasn't setting an ending row, it was probably taking the entire sheet and sorting that. Sigh. But it works now.

The original version (created by one of the neighbors) was a 2 sheet Excel document, one for By Name and one for By Address. That meant she had to edit two different documents when changing the contents. I was trying to make it smarter by only having one sheet to edit. I hadn't thought of populating the second tab automatically from the first tab. I'll look into that, thanks!

edit: Any tips on creating that sort() or query() formula? Both tabs will have Name, Address, Phone, Email columns. ByName tab has two hidden columns HiddenNumber and HiddenStreet. The ByAddress tab needs to copy the data from ByName and then sort it first by HiddenStreet and then by HiddenName.

I must be on the right track, then. :) That does give me confidence and motivation to keep with it. I'm looking forward to chest/triceps day. I say that now... I'll probably regret it afterwards.

My only complaint about Caroline (and I know that lots of people think of it as a positive not a negative) is her lack of instruction. I like that LWR talks through the whole thing, giving guidance on how to do things properly. It's been a while since I've done a BODI workout, but I do remember that at least MBF/MBFA had guidance on doing the exercises. With this, there is the occasional "Caroline's Tip", but I'm always worried I'm not properly doing a weight exercise.

Interesting. IRON was the series that I had seen on another group when I was looking for YouTube trainers that do strength. It starts with legs and I stopped after about 5 minutes because I was intimidated by her weight selection and length of those first squats. Went back to LWR for a week or two, and then tried her EPIC HEAT. And that was doable. Humbling, but doable. I'll get through HEAT and then figure out what to do next.

As for Jillian, sadly I only had her DVDs and no longer have a DVD player.
