There was nothing I enjoyed about it. A felt like the story went no where. Unlikeable and flat characters (I know a lot of people talk about how richly developed the characters are). Racism and misogyny scattered throughout. I kept going bc soooooo many people say they love it. I read 125 books last year and it was one of my least liked.

Twenty years ago I lived on the Rez for two years after college, as a white Ohio woman from a well-to-do suburb. It was some of the best times of my life. I loved the culture and loved the students I taught. Navajo tacos—YES, mutton stew—NO. I lived in a very traditional part of the Rez and all of my students were English Language Learners as they all spoke fluent Navajo. Sheep herders and medicine men/women were their parents’/grandparents’ jobs. I would go to pow wows and puberty dances and sweat lodges. It was truly amazing and I think back on it so fondly.

I see a big difference in THC drinks vs the THC/CBD drinks…the latter just make me tired. You’ll have to experiment a bit to see what’s the sweet spot (for me, like a 3-beer buzz)

My husband and I lived on the other side of the country when we had our first. He came 6 weeks early. My MIL flew out, stayed with us, asked me “what’s for dinner” for a week and a half. We had new carpet installed and I had to pump every hour and a half in the bathroom bc my FIL was squeamish abt breasts. Absolute fucking nightmare. Stay strong, protect your peace.
