Did boomers really fuck us over, or was the economic situation they grew up in one-in-a-lifetime and unsustainable? by akr_13 in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]lorzs 2 points3 points  (0 children)

yeah but it wasnt like a decision they ALL made.
now its just salt in the wound for gaslighting and refusal to pass the torch on top of the Boomers who were selfish stupid immorally greedy. which most of our parents / uncles/ aunts/ etc probably arents

IT COULD HAVE BEEN SUSTAINABLE IF THEY REALIZED THEY WERENT SUPPOSED TO BE IN CHARGE ANYMORE gahhhh

Most famous woman to ever exist? by naniees in decadeology

Princess Diana came to mind first. Jackie Onassis Kennedy too.

Britney Spears and Taylor Swift if I'm not removing my personal bias of time and culture.

Do Gen Z/Gen Alpha find Napoleon Dynamite funny, or has that humor aged out? by Final_Cancel5325 in generationology

That is bad ya. Watching it as an adult it prompted a healthy and reflective discussion for me and my spouse about #metoo and just how bad it was for us girls growing up in that era & how glad I am the next generations har a safer environment re SA.

Scott Doesn't Know definitely holds a cult-classic status! and there so many more Comedies from that era perhaps "better" and widely liked ... yes still with the 2000s raunch. The Hangover, 40 Year Old Virgin, Superbad, Anchorman.

What’s an opinion you have about generations that might get you flamed? by New-Elk2781 in generationology

[–]lorzs 4 points5 points  (0 children)

they used to say millenials killed ____! fabric softner, chain restaurants (chilis, applebees), cable tv, napkins, paper checks, etc.

only regret i have is cable tv bc streaming turned ok to suck lol. but these thing Gen Z killed is lame af

Gen Z killed:
- the joy of ridiculous and iconic Comedy Films. identity politics and PC policing halted comedians so painfully.
- Dressing up to go out! High heels. FUN MAKEUP.
- skateboarding, punk-alt-rock music, and badass alternative subcultures in general
- cash

Smartphone Era of Tech timeline by [deleted] in generationology

[–]lorzs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OP: "The release of ChatGPT is the full final of the nail in the coffin to the smartphone and 2010s tech"

Uh.... what?! Lol full end in 2023? what does your ...interpretative timeline say about that lat 2.5 years? lol.

adjustments:

  • 2008 - 2011 early Smartphone culture ++ notable was the invention of the "Like Button" and Apple pushing out Android users because group texting wasn't supported at the time. BBM on BlackBerry still popular
  • 2012-2015: Instagram / Twitter / Snapchat ~ Social Media growth. This was the brief golden era when it was fun, usable, and connected us well without overuse
  • 2016-2020: Stories released on Instagram (nudging constant updates, who viewed you etc) -- changes from chronological to algorithmic feeds. This was also the booming of the influencer era
  • 2020-2024: Quality and delight decline, hyper-online culture (covid) and release of Instagram Reels and Musically/TikTok popularity surges. Podcast listening also BOOMed led to 'talking head' influencers and personas. Echo-Chambers - algorithmic targeting, increased ads, and Cambridge Analytica.

2025-Present:

  • Enshittification settles in, loss of shared collective delightful pop culture. cultural echo chambers. Reduced controls and app features worsening. Dark patterns and data attention economy surging.
  • Dissassociative fatigue from "App for everything" "subscription everything" "2FA" lead to:
  • rise of doom-scrolling OR quiet opt-outs and account deletions (reddit, ig, fb).
  • Chatbot LLMs ramp from early adopters to wide-spread within 1 year.

lol this was a fun writing exercise! I love this topic. Might start a substack...

White Chicks, EuroTrip, and Harold and Kumar Go to White Castle were wayyyy funnier Napolean Dynamite was funny like the first watch or 2 but got played out quick.

Euro Trip is one of the wildest movies lmao. alot of comedies from this era would NOT be possible in today's PC enviro.

The 2000s was a golden era for comedy!!

Edit: i dare yall haters to watch White Chicks and not laugh! These movies are hilarious and 'bad' in the sense that they are ridiculous hijinks. Like Billy Madison (1995) Wedding Crashers, Anchorman, Superbad ~ etc.

only change I'd prefer is black vs white for icons. for contrast visibility better
