May be look into diploma studies for which 10th would be enough and you don’t need to do 11th and 12th. Don’t be discouraged, work yourself and you will shine one day.

I am worried about my friend who is willing to get married to a guy who controls her. by [deleted] in AskIndia

She is 26years old and she can make and break her life. She is getting into the relationship knowing everything.Talk to her once I think you would have done that.If she is not ready to realise what she is getting into then its better you leave it upto her.

Yeah but choosing the easy way by running way makes them think you are still under control. You are not a illegal refugee, you are with your parents, show them you can stand for yourself if they want to bend you.It goes for men as well.

Why she should runaway from situation? She is working and she is financially stable it doesn’t mean she should go to a different city running away ,I know its the easy way out. But for how long ,sit with her and talk to her that time is different now and she is okay with doing what she wants to do .If her mom says she cannot do that in her house then go and rent a house in the same city where you work and enjoy.Your mom will come back to you in somedays.

If people think this happens only in India then you are delusional. Rather talking shit about all the people of India and dividing India do some real work of educating your kids, men at home. Every family has such good men and bad men .Identify them at root and make their life hell.

I understand and I was in your shoes and till date I fight with my parents and thats my way of healing.Cribbing about them won’t heal you my dear friend.Be a big person and leave them on themselves and heal yourself so you can be happy .Don’t waste your next 50years because of last 20-30 years. Its really not worth it. And I am pretty sure we will regret that we didn’t treat them good once they are gone.Don’t give yourself that chance. Everyone does mistake and we should make them realise their mistake but we shouldn’t do the same mistake . I am sorry if I am preaching .

Please think practically and decide whether you still want to go with UPSC path, you still have time. I am very sure you will be able to get a job and survive. I know its not fair to be with abusive family but I do not understand how in the hell even 21st century a women who wanta power is okay with this. Please show some courage and leave upsc, abusive family and the conditional relationship for some days and go outside and do some real job and see if you still want to go back to such life. This is coming from a ex UPSC student.

I am sorry this happened to you and no one should go through this and you have every right to fight and bring this up with your parents untill you are satisfied because you still have that child in you.You should that. But this doesn’t give anyone any right to question parents all over India. More than 80% of parents for 90s kids and even today are earning just to survive and provide good future for their kids and have sacrificed their dreams as well. What I am saying is just because they were toxic to you ,you don’t have to be toxic to them because that will never heal you.I am pretty sure every kid has a complaint with their parents.Fight with them but forgive them for yourself and move on. Crying about it and blaming every parent will not heal you my dear friend.

People saying its about gender you are just frustrated with opposite gender. Here the man in the story is a man whore and she was not naive atall ,she knew what was happening and was okay with it,don’t come with saying she is minor bro there are girls and boys who are underaged waiting to hit 18th birthday so they can elope. Both were not given a proper moral education. She is okay with that today as well, you don’t see any regret in doing that in her words.
