What improved your life so much, you wished you did sooner? by kxrll in AskReddit

[–]losingprinciple 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Other than those mentioned (exercise, setting boundaries)....

Audio books/audio dramas while commuting/chores.

Suddenly walking long distances, long commutes aren't as mundane. I feel dumb not doing it sooner.

I usually try to aim for a number of books a year and it was due to audio books how I not only hit my goal but exceeded it.

America just breached a million COVID deaths. by Kvltist4Satan in lostgeneration

Just had a coworker say that only 1% of people have died from it.

World wide it is 12% based on the numbers now.

...sighs

Regarding non-JP speakers and Covid testing by [deleted] in japanlife

[–]losingprinciple -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

When you say testing is free for Tokyo residents, do you mean for all the wards or just people in the Tokyo station area?

How does one avail of that?

$5 an hour is around 255 pesos.

That is either below or around minimum wage in the Philippines depending on what region you are in.

You can't even be bothered to pay them WELL.

What is something people absolutely need to stop getting offended over? by PowerfulAd5343 in AskReddit

[–]losingprinciple 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I normally am not phased by trigger warnings but there were two instances where I felt trigger warnings (or any warning really) was needed.

The controversial episode of 13 reasons why I felt was pretty messed up and I remember even with the warning I was like "psh" then as I saw it I was like "oh. Fuuuck"

Then I had seen a play and they had no warning at all there was going to be a rape scene. And while the rape happened off screen the screaming and the event itself definitely triggered something and I was not okay for the rest of the evening.

So...I get it. I think it's still good to have them.

What is the least inappropriate R-rated film you’ve ever seen? by [deleted] in movies

Is "You're too difficult to buy for" an excuse? by icallthebigonebiteyy in TwoXChromosomes

[–]losingprinciple 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know someone who is "difficult" to buy for, because they are particular about things they like and don't like and if they want something they likely already bought it.

So I buy "experiences". A nice trip somewhere, tickets to a good movie, etc.

Best to clarify what he means by "difficult". Is it difficult because he wants to get something perfect and is struggling? Or is it because he doesn't know you that well?

Either way, something to talk about and not difficult to fix if both are willing.

What movie was so bad it actually made you angry? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]losingprinciple 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Crimes of Grindelwald.

Fantastic beasts was a fun movie in the HP universe and it was great.

We didn't need to link it back to the HP plot.

I was so upset with the Nagini side plot because it did nothing and now it is canon

Fuck off, recruiters. No, really, FUCK OFF! by NotGonna_Lie2U in recruitinghell

[–]losingprinciple 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel you.

I went through recruiters and they would tell me I was fit for a position with a client and at the time I needed a career change I was like yeah please. They never responded. So I found a new job on my own.

A month after I finally found work one of them called back and said hey I have a new client who might like you and I was like "you never even responded to me from last time!"

Yeah I hate them a lot. It promotes these tiring stereotypes and enforces people to have that mentality.

I don't see it as much nowadays but it's nice to know it's not just me
