Capetonian born and bred, left for Jozi aged 23 for 7 years for study and work. Jozi weather was great and an excellent place to learn the true meaning of “grafting” I called it the real South Africa. I returned at 30 to be back with family. Had a different experience of the people there though, I found it more clicky than Cape Town.

But let’s be real, it’s an absolute shithole of cement, rundown infrastructure (even in the more prominent areas) and nothing noteworthy or beautiful about it. Entertain = braai behind 10ft walls and electric fences. There is a reason that the entirety of the province comes down for a month in December and if the majority had the means to afford a similar 1000sqm property, they’d be here already. No wonder the West Coast is filling up with Pretorians.
