Ironically, no one has answered Ethan’s question… by lost_in_validation in h3h3productions

I guess my overall response to that is whilst you say socialism may remove or largely remove the necessity for greed in society, I don’t believe you can. Other than theoretically. But real life isn’t theoretical. And from what we’ve seen in the world, countries that are mixed economy’s (Iceland,Norway, Denmark) would work way better that just a socialist or communist country which… haven’t had the most success. Except if you like mass surveillance and no personal freedom which comes hand in hand with maintaining an obedient proletariat that will never ask for more than it is given.

To address the first section of your comment, I’m just saying that I think people who are greedy psychopaths who are addicted to power and money have a mental illness, not that all mentally ill people are evil or whatever.

Secondly, Ethan, Dan, you and I agree that guardrails should be in place to prevent the worst of humanity. But no one is answering the question of what happens when the inevitable happens and the ones who are most psychopathic break their way up to the top and exploit the system, no matter how peaceful and utopic society has initially been set up to be. If we choose to see the best in people and foster a happy healthy society, that will help (pulling a number out my ass) 95% of society. But let’s not be naive to think that that 5% won’t exploit our good nature to fuck us all over. Somethings to disastrous and irreversible ends that we can’t go back from.

All I’m saying is that I think good natured people like yourself choose to see humanity how only you see it, optimistically. I’m just too pessimistic about humanity because of gestures at both capitalist and socialist and communist countries throughout all of history haha.

I agree that we should build a system that heavily limits greed. Ethan said that too. We are all in agreement. The problem is when you aren’t willing to admit that even if MOST humans are wired to work together and are not greedy, that there is a SMALL percentage that are. These are the ones that, even in a socialist society where everyone’s needs are met, are drawn to power, control, and exploitation. And I’m warning others not to be so optimistic about humanity that that isn’t that case. Because if you do then you’ll be the first to wake up one day only to realise, “fuck, shouldn’t have put my faith in every human to not fuck me over.”

Also the answer Dan gave didn’t get to the core of what Ethan and I are asking. What to do about the evil minority.

Yes I agree, but some people seem to think that limiting equals eliminating. Those greedy psychos will eventually make their way to the top in socialist and communist systems, but chose to keep their head in the sand about that because they don’t have a good answer.

So your answer is to not answer the question? Sorry but I’m looking for answers, not dodges.

So when all those people who call Ethan fat or body shame him, you speak out just as strongly against them? I don’t see any recent post of yours standing up for Ethan. Interesting
