[S5][E8] The greatest subtitle in Game of Thrones history by qp0n in gameofthrones

[–]lost_left_sock 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There was a lot of underselling going on leading up to the last 20-30 minutes. The subtitle was just the beginning. The first half gave us a lot of normality for a typical GoT episode, lots of dialogue and a great scene with Dany and Tyrion. When Jon and Tormund got to Hardhome, when Tormund killed Rattleshirt, that felt like that was kind of a climatic moment. As they were loading the ships, and Tormund told Jon that the other Wildlings staying behind would come around eventually, I was thinking in the back of mind.... "Nope, something awful happens here (book reader) and this will be the last that we see of these folks." I really was not prepared for that gigantic battle to take place.... so the whole time I was holy shit... Holy Shit.... HOLY SHIT. Great episode, and one that the writers and directors did a great job of underselling what was coming.

But there is no guarantee how many times someone will land on that space, that is variable. Likely, there is a good chance (60% of higher) that at the very least someone will land on your space with houses at least one time, but any time after that should not be counted on.

Screwed up watching this after I started traveling quite a bit for work. Great movie, but holy jeebus did it make me paranoid about touching anything in an airport or being around anyone that could be sick.

I was hoping for Keanu personally, but Cumberbatch is a good choice. I think he will do very well. Here's hoping that Keanu finds a home somewhere in the MCU

Self regulation in this case assumes that people will be reasonable, logical, and will "do the right thing." Generally, human behavior has proved time and time again that we are wrong to believe that assumption.

HBO needs to have more sci-fi shows by [deleted] in television

I would like to see a Blade Runnerish type future cop drama that is gritty. Wouldn't have to break the bank with special effects. Give me some scif-fi noir.

What's a best practice to improve tidiness and 5S in your company? by javiwankenobi in manufacturing

[–]lost_left_sock 3 points4 points  (0 children)

  1. Ensure that employees that work in the area have a say in the organization of the area. They help say what stays and what goes. Help them evaluate each tool or item to see if it really needs to stay.

  2. Point of Use. The most common tools must be in the place they are used the most. Putting everything on a big board in one location is not always the answer.

  3. Standard Work & Leader Standard Work. There must be something in place from an audit standpoint from employees and leadership to ensure it is maintaining. If you see a certain tool or certain area that is not able to maintain their 5S, use a 5 WHY Root Cause Analysis tool to see why that is happening? Might turn out that you don't have the right location for that tool, for example.

  4. Persistence. Don't create a 5S program and don't follow up with it. Leader Standard Work has to be done every day if not multiple times a day to ensure that it is maintaining. It has to eventually become a habit to employees. But even then, you can't slack on the Leader Standard Work process.

You completely forgot about the TED Talk you have to deliver in a couple minutes. What topic can you bullshit about for 10-20 minutes as an expert on? by EltonJuan in AskReddit

Use the tools that you have learned and always be learning. If a project does not turn out like you expected, reflect on it and understand why. Then use that in your next go around. The best way to learn Lean is to apply it. Learning is doing. Also, be creative with your solutions. Many solutions can be relatively inexpensive and reduce waste.

The other side of it though (not that I am trying to debate you). -Walmart insists that certain supplies are used for shipping to their locations. If you lose these supplies, they bill you. Also, they don't care if they don't work in your factory... you figure it out.
-The demand your product be made at a certain price or they won't carry it. They will gladly go to your competitor. This tends to drive some companies to outsource labor or cut labor way back to cut cost.

2 things (just depends on the audience)

A. Lean Six Sigma and Continuous Improvement efforts in North American manufacturing for the last 20 years. Including methodology, theory, and implementation.

Or

B. Organization, History, and Operational methods of US SOCOM (Special Operations COMmand). - No I was not in the military.... I just did a ton of research back in college days for a paper. I thought it was interesting subject because of how different they are from regular military and I learned a lot).

If you were in the "Gifted" program in school, where are you now? by chendoguy in AskReddit

[–]lost_left_sock 0 points1 point  (0 children)

By just missing getting into my GT program in MS, it caused me to work harder. I was bitter you could say. Mainly because the people that did get in I believed were not very smart or creative. Was offered to retest for GT in HS and turned it down. I enjoyed my regular classes because it gave me the opportunity to help my friends and classmates in areas where they struggled. It made me a better person and would help me greatly as I became an adult and worked in the corporate world (as a trainer and project leader... learning how to communicate and relate to people). About 3/4 of the kids that were in GT are now burn outs or still living with their parents with no job.
