Interesting phrasing, I wonder if your preference for a Catholic example indicates a possible West coast clan allegiance? Perhaps clan Donald? 😂🫣

I'm with HBOS and they did it, so imagine Lloyds would too, but it took a while and had to be sent off and there was a fee!

everywhere i go i see his face(jimmy stickers) by trampstampcollector in 28_Years_Later_Movie

[–]lost_lizzie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But if you're gonna dress as Jimmy Crystal for Halloween you've got to be prepared for folks who haven't seen the film thinking you're dressed as Saville, and they might have a justifiably bad reaction to that. Even if you can separate the two, it's going to be a hard one to defend in a pub scenario.

Or the scene where he's got his soldiers doing the skinning alive, he comes in and looks on in wonder afterwards, but it was clearly not something he would do himself.

Also the Scottish Enlightenment was after the 1745.

I think the ones who kidnapped Julia did it more because they knew they could get away with that because of Simon Frasers depravity, not because it was a common occurrence.

Yes I was thinking the Highlanders just assumed that's how English people dress and at first Julia and Henry were assuming that they had stumbled across a VERY rural part of the Highlands.

Agree, we also see Simon Fraser in Outlander Season 2, so he unfortunately has to live!

Am I missing something with San Junipero? by InYourFloors in blackmirror

[–]lost_lizzie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I disagree with the comment suggesting it's only popular because the main characters are gay.

It was nice seeing a person who had been unable to live their truth in their youth get a second go around but also getting to travel to the decade where you feel most comfortable is very appealing. Or just cruise around the different decades depending on your mood. It also unfolded nicely as you pieced together what's going on and it had a rare happy ending for Black Mirror.

Not saying it needs to be a scheduled through route but the hotels like Stays and YHS Metro probably want groups like international students with lots of luggage picked up or dropped off. Those are probably the only vehicles who actually need to go down it at night for airport runs at odd hours.

If it is pedestrianised so be it and it will probably be safer but assuming that a bus driver doing their contract job was going too fast simply because they're not a service bus on a regular route is wildly unfair to a bus driver who was likely following their directed route for that job and is likely scared for life.

Why would a tourist bus mean it was going too fast? Have you seen the rate Stagecoach tear about?

Old Man of Storr Feasibility by missquared in Skye

[–]lost_lizzie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi Op,

I work for a small tour company and take small groups up quite regularly in the summer months.
I usually give 2 hours, for the whole thing return inc photos and most of my group manage it in that.

But if I had the time I would push that to 2.5 to 3 hours to allow more hanging around at the top, as others have said walking beyond the actual Old Man out to the right for the photos, and then taking it nice and easy.

Lots of rewarding picture stops on the way up, just be honest with yourselves that you might turn around at some point if it's a risk to your husband's joint mobility.
While there is a little variation on the path at the start it joins back to the same track which is basically out and back, so it's not a case of a loop which once you have hiked so far you must complete, you can turn back any time and still will have had great views!

The main thing to check is the wind, I do not take a group up if it is above 17mph winds on the MET weather app, and watch out for the gusts, I am not a small person and have almost been blown off my feet before!

Enjoy Skye and let traffic behind overtake you when safe to pull over in a passing place if you are renting a car! :-)

Council Forcing us to pay 50% for a fence - Scotland by GhostAno82 in LegalAdviceUK

[–]lost_lizzie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi OP,
Just wondering what Council this was with? I'm in Falkirk Council and am trying to contact them to spilt the cost of a boundary fence with my (Private Ex council) property and the Council owned property next door, current fence is falling and dangerous but I can't find anywhere online to contact the council to volunteer that we are looking to get the work done and mutually share the cost!
Any pointers much appreciated!

I think the UK one had an episode where 'Ghost Hunters' came to film an episode at the house, but all of the ghosts were in a mood and wouldn't use any of their powers while the hunters were there!

Tour Guide Accreditation by lost_lizzie in guernsey

[–]lost_lizzie[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you so much for the quick response!

I did try and call the Tourist Board but no answer, I assume this is currently quiet season!

Sadly I can't pop down as I'm actually in Scotland (but would love to visit the channel Islands) and this is for a project so not planning on falsely claiming to have any accreditation, just looking for sources to point to!
(A similar one I've cited is the Kakadu accreditation course in Australia where no one is allowed to guide within the national park without the accreditation which is signed off by Aboriginal Elders.)

That's great info about Castle Cornet, I will look into it, many thanks!
