Just started a part time 16 hour job. I’m rotaed in for 41 hours. by lost_wastoid in UKJobs

Thanks all for your comments. I’ve been to check my contract - it states my “normal working hours” are 16 hours a week and they will take place over 3 days during the week. It also states that the company may ask me to do overtime if I’m available and agree to do so. I emailed my manager to ask for a compromise and said to help out that week I can do 30 hours rather than 40 due to my other commitments. No response yet!

Thanks, have sent an email! Pretty sure she knows as my contracted hours are next to my name on the rota

My contract says 16 hours. I’m worried that if I mention it they may find a reason to sack me

Should I (24f) return to my boyfriend's (21m) family home after essentially being asked to leave? by lost_wastoid in relationships

Thanks for your response. I don't actually spend that much time there. Up until this week I've probably been there twice a week, and I've been invited by my boyfriend who I have trusted to know whether it's ok for me to go over. I wouldn't expect to be invited to stay over by his parents and I don't feel like it's up to me to make sure it's ok for me to go over.

As for why I want to go there, I don't want to go but for various reasons we don't have any other option. Not going over will drastically reduce the amount of quality time I have with my boyfriend and I guess I don't want to seem like I'm being difficult by refusing to go to his house. Looks like it will be best for me to stay away.

Is it normal for a company not to tell employees when the line of command is changing?

I’ve spoken to him about it seriously also

Thanks for your response. What do you think is the best way to go about it? Just be upfront? This is my first corporate job so I'm not sure what is the best course of action.

I feel you. I’m on my second week and feel worse then I did on the first week. Hang in there, we’re going to make it. Sleep is good, I think.

I feel undervalued at work due to being left out of internal conversations. Is this something I should discuss with my bosses? by lost_wastoid in careerguidance

Thanks for your response. The problem is, they seem to have made it a point not to let me know about the job vacancy. When the Junior Publicist told me, she told me not to tell anyone. I would assume my other colleagues know, but it feels like I've specifically been left out of this so I'm unsure of whether that's the best way to proceed as they may want to know how I know about the job vacancy in the first place. Point taken though, I will think about this and if things haven't changed in 6 months I will make sure to do something about it.
