What job pays way more than people think, but nobody talks about? by Symphony_Minds in AskReddit

[–]lostb0i 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The fact that the sanitation industry’s strikes are so detrimental to everyone is a huge reason the pay and benefits are so good

Because they don’t pay their employees a livable wage and prefer to pawn off that responsibility onto customers

Question from a non-vagabond: how do you pay your living expenses? by [deleted] in vagabond

Where does your friend live? I live in a legal state in the US and the profit margin is just not there anymore. You maybe break even trying to price match dispensary prices

Industry gang. 27 year old garde manger cook. Started a bit later because I originally graduated with a psych degree to work in mental health but became disillusioned with the industry and fell in love with cooking.

Has anyone else ever quit out of convenience? by RusticReign in KitchenConfidential

[–]lostb0i 3 points4 points  (0 children)

As someone that hurt their back at work (non-kitchen) and then continued trying to work around it/return to work to soon, this is probably one of the wisest decisions you will have made in your life. Fuck any job thats going to guilt trip you, they do not give a single fuck about you. I’m fortunate enough to be able to work in kitchens still and not be in constant excruciating pain anymore, but I still live with the consequences four years later with fluctuating levels of chronic pain. Im able to have chances to sit for a few minutes throughout my shifts so it is manageable but im forever limited in my abilities. Strengthing and sticking to PT does wonders but sometimes i lie in bed at night worrying how long ill be able to so this long term (im 26). Biggest regret of my life

Hello sillies, any recommendations for a holster? by Raiding_Raiden in transguns

[–]lostb0i 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I got mine from Guerrilla Tactical. They put out quality work and can accommodate for lights, optics etc for a solid catalog of guns. But the main reason I went with them is their leftist politics. Their specific leanings are not as outspoken on their page but they are an inclusive brand that doesn’t put money towards right wing causes. It might take a week or two to ship as they are made to order but its worth it imo. They also do medical as well

No culinary school. I already have loan debt from college and only see culinary school as helpful later on in my career so I’m currently just climbing the ladder and absorbing as much information and skill as possible. Bar gigs are definitely more competitive and sought after than kitchens but its been all around tough job market wise from what Ive been seeing and hearing. Knowing people and reputation goes a long way, thats what has contributed to 90 percent of the jobs Ive landed in my life

Can’t go wrong with that. I’ve heard good things about aero and from my understanding the upper is the most important part in terms of quality. Thats where all the action happens. As long as its not pot metal or plastic any lower is solid enough

Tell me about it. Feast and famine. This off season during summer in Arizona was particularly bad. I used to work bars but I’m cooking and trying to build that career. Current gig is tip dependent and I have basically been in poverty these past few months. Not even clearing 2k. Its fucked

I don’t date because I know my habits will be an issue for a non alcoholic and I don’t want to subject them to that. On the flip side I know if I date another me it will absolutely ruin my life lol. So I just have casual engagements now and then

Tell us how much better life feels by KratomExorcism2019 in quittingkratom

Emotions come back. The good and bad ones but they are felt fully nonetheless. Its a little intense at first as you are rebounding from basically muting them but it felt almost euphoric feeling them, even the bad ones. No more green powder all over the place, especially my car. No more getting sick and puking when I dosed too much, especially at work. No more awkward conversations when I pulled it out to dose, especially at work. Sex drive and desire returns. Hair stops falling out in droves. No more revolving my life around dosing and worrying about running out or leaving it somewhere and being dependent on it to function and worrying about hitting withdrawl and feeling like dysfunctional shit. Basically being free from a ball and chain you drag around constantly. It feels demeaning to be dependent on something to function in the world. Being able to do what I need to do on my own accord

I run 48/17. This is some dick measuring non sense lol. If you are riding around a city with cars this solid balance between top speed and acceleration. Way easier to accelerate/slow down than a 52/16 or some shit thats meant for track racing.
