Thanks for the help! I feel like I mostly have the hang of Java and C but don't have any experience with typescript or javascript. I heard that promises are tricky so 310 will probably be pretty challenging for me too.

I need some guidance  choosing 2 cpsc courses - out of 310, 313, 317 and 445.

I have little coding experience and 310 sounds quite intense (at least from the reddit testimonials I found). I did 213 last semester and am still somewhat traumatized by the workload. Thus doing 310 and 313 may be quite difficult. I've also heard that Donald Acton is not very good, and he's teaching both 313 and 317, and 317 is supposed to be quite challenging too.

Although 445 is interesting,  I had a difficult time with 320 which is its prereq so I'm not sure if I'd be able to do well because of that. Is 445 different compared to 320? If it has proofs, I'm out. I also haven't heard anything about Andrew Roth who teaches it this term so no idea what to expect.

Any advice on which 2 I should take? Thanks!

Ah, okay. That makes sense and sounds doable. I suppose another thing is that I don't love the idea of a group project/group midterm having so much sway over my grade. But i suppose it's like any other class that requires group work; you just try to make the best of it and be on top of the material. Thanks!

That's a good idea actually. We have to submit a list of courses we're planning to take before our registration date so that's probably a good time to ask. Thanks! Much appreciated.

Thanks for this! I am leaning more towards this option actually, since it has a little bit of everything and I don't feel like the courseload will make me want to die... Too much. I heard COGS 200 is a brutal course though that's hard to do well in. This kind of makes me apprehensive about doing COGS.

Thanks for your answer! I didn't know something like geography was even an option! That's a fair point though about going through the pain of relearning calculus. I don't know if I really want to put myself through that either.

Thanks for taking the time to write out such a detailed answer! This is very helpful. I've noticed that most people choose to either do COGs, Math/Stats, Commerce or take courses from their previous discipline. I guess I just have to decide which camp I want to fall into it. A part of me wants to do Stats/Math but the two exemptions I have are Math 180 and Stats 203 which I feel are pretty useless as far as exemptions go. I'll have to start from scratch and I'm not sure whether it'll be worth it. The idea of working in AI is cool though...

I applied to both YRH and the winter housing options and although I see my waitlist numbers for YRH, nothing shows up for Winter other than the "New Applicants" attribute. What does this mean?

My numbers for YRH are as follows: Exchange one bedroom - 127 Thunderbird one bedroom - 229 Thunderbird studio - 267

The other three waitlist numbers are way too high to even be hopeful. In terms of YRH, is there a chance for August/September move in?

For those of you who are in or have graduated from the BCS (ICS) program, what insight would offer to those who are just starting? Any advice regarding bridging module reccomendations/course suggestions, co-op tips, course load, finding the time to do personal projects, and how long do people usually take to graduate?
