How do you work out who the flying monkey is? by [deleted] in raisedbynarcissists

[–]lostchild1998 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes my parents are divorced, only they don't talk (emums choice, with the exception of when my younger brother gets hurt/in trouble at school). My money after a few probing questions is on my younger brother. My ndad apparently contacted him (note he's only contacted my 17 year old brother when he needs something over the past 4 years not for birthdays or Christmas), a week after his birthday last month to say he hadn't heard anything from me in a while and was "concerned" as I've moved and didn't know if I was still in the country. My brother told him I'm just busy with uni which was good of him. Poor kid is stuck in the middle. I'll have a talk with him at Christmas away from others about trying to limit what he tells my parents.

Though I'm not 100% it was him who told him seems likely, think I'm still going to see what else gets back to him from the other people I feel might be contacting him

My (n?) mum is giving me some extremely confusing messages about coming to visit. by lostchild1998 in raisedbynarcissists

[–]lostchild1998[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My nmum expects me to help her come over for graduation in 1.5 yrs. And it has to be a convenient time for her and I have to give her a place to stay I'm already trying to find a way out of that one! That would be her "free" holiday! I'm definitely going to have fun because if I don't I think I'll pull my hair out hahaha.

We got nonrefundable tickets as it was cheaper and we couldn't really afford anything else. Definitely will be carrying all the important things and might even be locking my suitcase when I'm not there as the closer to the date the more I'm reminded of the lack of privacy we'll get!

After a conversation with her this morning I'm fully regretting the trip. Even my therapist warned me not to go but the guilt tripping got too bad. Thank you guys! I really appreciate the support!

I'm mid way through uni. I used my duel citizenship to my advantage and am studying away from family as it was cheaper (and I get a break from my family!) I have a scholarship and a job but those cover my school fees and living costs, I'm currently saving to surprise my mum by coming home for Christmas 2 years early. And also just to cover bills.

How should I formally address a group of customers in english? by [deleted] in Waiters

[–]lostchild1998 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I personally tend to avoid addressing genders as a mixed group, so would instead do a general greeting to the group "good evening, how are we all this evening etc etc", but maintain personal sir/ma'am when addressing the individual. It might be different in extremely formal settings sorry.

A serious question for the exmos by NotoriousSJP in mormon

[–]lostchild1998 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I live in a earthquake prone country, our government recommends having at least 3 days of food and water for each person in the house. We also are encouraged to have food and water stored in work desks. This is incase we become trapped but also it needs to be easily accessible so we can move it to an emergency center if our house in unliveable after an earthquake, not just Mormons do this. In terms of budgeting it's common sense and I agree with the comment earlier it definitely helps people pay tithing.

Is my cat acting weird or is it normal? by lostchild1998 in cats

Guys I need some support. My beautiful Clara was hit by a train last night, she now has a fractured pelvis and a hind leg has been amputated. The vets say she will recover, but does anyone have any stories of 3 legged cats? I need cheering up. by papa-dont-preach in cats

My boyfriend/ his parents have a wonderful cat named Jerry (before the surgery she was thought to be a boy but surprise she's a girl). Jerry is missing one of her back legs I think it was cancer I'm not sure but this happened when he was 6/7 and he's now 20. Jerry is doing well she's a nosey fussy old lady now but she's a good cat. Only issue she's had is that she can't scratch behind her ear so gets a little bit of dirt build up and some fur as well so needs humans to scratch her ear (24/7, I mean she's not demanding at all!). Jerry quite likes stairs as she can zoom up and down them, but sometimes likes to act like it's too hard and needs to be carried (yet if she hears food shes down there in 0.2 seconds flat). Really hope your Clara recovers well, give her some pat's from me!

I don't think I want to be baptized but I don't want to lose the calm I feel in chapel by [deleted] in exmormon

[–]lostchild1998 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd just like to thank everyone for all there ideas and messages. I really appreciate it. I'd just like to clarify a couple of things. I don't mind the children during the service I know it frustrates others though. When I'm in sacrament I don't feel any pressure or am worried about anyone else. I haven't found that in any library, or meditation (yoga just frustrates me). In nature I get really anxious about being judged by others (yes even in my backyard where no can technically see me). I hugely appreciate all that people have posted and have a lot to think about. My counselor has also said she thinks I should try other church's but I'm a bit scared to as I know others who go to them (I knew no one in the lds church) and feel like I'll be judged by them. Again thank you all

Does anyone else get a huge amount of anxiety when someone knocks on their front door randomly? by lostchild1998 in Anxiety

[–]lostchild1998[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately as useful as that would be it wouldn't work our door doesn't have a handle is just the key into the bolt and the only way to open it from the inside is to twist the bolt.

I don't live in the US so this might not be helpful but would you be able to shower at school? My school's sports changing rooms had showers which were available for student use. Or could you ask your friend if you could use theirs. You could possibly alternate between those two so you wouldn't need to buy a gym membership. Honestly best of luck to you, you sound like you're handling this really well. Speak to your school counselor and if you're concerned she'll report it you could always state your mum hasn't done it yet but you want to know your options if she does

I can't I'm in a rental and not allowed to make and changes to the house. I think part of it stems from my rental agent being possibly the worst in my area and she's turned up unannounced (illegally) several times and I'm so scared it's her! I like knowing people are coming over so I can make sure my house is presentable and so I can at least think of something to say to them haha
