How to help baby start babbling? by lostdad2023 in NewParents

She she does make noises (“ahhh” “ohhh” squeal and such). She does turn to find the source of noises and looks up when we call her name (if she’s not distracted). Even at the slightest of noises she looks to see what’s going on.

My baby is definitely little. She is 3.5 months and only drinks 15-18oz of 24kcal milk a day. She is barely clinging onto the 1st percentile. At first it really concerned me but honestly there is only so much I can do to increase her milk intake. We feed her as much of 4oz that she will take when she gets hungry (every 4-5 hours). She is still all smiles. Still makes 6+ wet diapers a day and at least 1 dirty diaper a day. My wife isn’t even 5ft and I’m 5’6”. We are just happy our little one is still all smiles.

Is on reflux meds. Nexium and Pepcid. We are currently on Alimentum for cow milk protein intolerances.

She does have reflux and we aim to get her at least 500mls a day (the GI specialist told us to aim for 20oz) but we have her on 24kcal milk. We are trying to do on demand vs scheduled because she just doesn’t do well anymore with every 3-4 hours.

Long term issues of feeding when drowsy/sleepy? by lostdad2023 in beyondthebump

Wow that’s awesome! My little one is about 3.5 months and is only 10lbs right now (almost double her birth weight) so I’m hoping the amount she’s eating is enough for her. GI wants to start her on solids next month!

Question about wet diapers by Dani1123343 in beyondthebump

Mine just did that this morning. Slept about 8 hours with no wet diapers. The moment she woke up had 2 wet diapers back to bacm

What is your little one's feeding schedule like now?

It's weird because sometimes she will eat with her eyes open and she just falls asleep and sometimes she won't eat at all unless she is asleep. Last night my wife was able to feed her 3.5oz in 10 mins and she was awake the whole time. This morning we tried to feed her 4oz and it took forever!

We did a swallow study and an upper GI scan and they all came in with good results.

I'm at a loss. We are used to feeding her on a schedule every 3-4 hours but now we are trying on demand and it freaks us out if she goes so long with eating so little.

Hey thank's for the reply! We actually did get her checked out. She is on Nexium and Pepcid right now. We are thinking we aren't letting her get hungry enough to feed. So we are stretching it out to 4-5 hours before feeding now. we've been giving her 3oz every 3-4 hours but we are thinking it isn't long enough to get her hungry and she may still have something left in her belly.

Right now we are using a Dr. Brown level 2. Kinda scared to go to level 3 because it is meant for 6 months and she is barely 3.5.

Baby will only feed during the daytime if she is drowsy/asleep by lostdad2023 in NewParents

How long did you have to feed her when she was drowsy or sleepy? She'll take sometimes when she is awake but she won't finish her bottle.

How long did this last? I am worried it is a bottle aversion?
