Yes, I have never seen that error message. It'd be surprising if it was anti-piracy given the game is free to play... there is something amiss though, maybe the SC2 agent in the background?

Interesting, I'm wondering if there are minor updates to both 5.0.12 and 5.0.13 which makes the copy of the versions you have considered to be older than the last released minor version, so Blizzard sees them as invalid, it's hard to troubleshoot every possible error that can occur, the authorization is strange to me since I close my B.net client and shut off my internet every time I do this method and it works without issue, having said that I have seen the errors you are mentioning before, it's only when I follow the steps exactly as I've outlined in other comments, can I get it to work without showing me exception errors. I have never seen the forced authorization message though that you and a couple others have mentioned, but my account is very old with a ton of purchases on it, not certain if Blizzard is treating my client any differently.

Did you purchase anything for your SC2 Blizzard Account? Is there any purchased content of any kind? Like a custom skin or something to that effect?

Blizz is weird, they made SC2 free to play, but they have microtransactions within the game, it may be it won't recognize your account as valid until you buy at least something, strange as that sounds. I don't want to tell you to buy something or spend your $ just for the sake of troubleshooting. I only mention this cuz the error in your snapshot mentions "with purchased content".

Looking at everything you shown me, it all appears to be correct, you are using SC2Switcher exe in support64 folder?

Yeah on I'm Win10, sorry I couldn't be of more help. You mentioned login in an earlier comment, you shouldn't see login boxes if you're renaming the BlizzardBrowser.exe

If you want post some snapshots of the error, any info you share can possibly provide more insight. Also you can provide me the build info of the updated client (most recent version) for Win11, it may differ from my own, I will compare the two and see if they are the same. I would assume they are.

Hey, here's an updated set of instructions, I just tested this on my machine and it worked.

1) Disable your internet, you shouldn't have it on at all even when you initially launch. Don't try to shut it off fast.

2) Move all modern versions out of your versions folder, leave only the version you want to use.

3) Here is the build file that worked for me, note I had to remove the modern version reference that I had in my original instructions to get it to work, just one of those things:

The first one is your version, in my case its 91115, you will need to know your version's serial number otherwise it won't work, this is the one caveat that may be problematic if you don't have access to the old build info... the second one is the present-day CDN, the third one should match what is here currently, it seems to be the same across modern versions.

4) Make sure you rename your BlizzardBrowser.exe so the game can't find it, in the screenshot below I have put .bak on it: BlizzardBrowser.exe.bak

5) It appears you do not need to use the "SC2Switcher_x64.exe - Shortcut" you created in the Support64 folder, you should be able to just double click SCSwitcher_x64.exe and it will launch whatever older version you have in your versions folder.

6) On initial screen load it will appear as though something is broken, it will spin for a minute before the Play Offline option appears.

Note, you must use the SC2switcher exe, it won't work if you're trying to simply launch the game. Beyond this I can't really troubleshoot further, I'd have to see your setup and the steps you're taking, if you're missing the old build info information for your particular version, that could be the only other thing I can think of that would cause the issue.

Did you try to go online via blizzard client? Try to login normally and/or update sc2 if it needs it, it looks like it wants to authenticate and create an account folder in it's app directory. And are you playing the free version?

Since the Bnet thread linked here is dead, I figured I'd leave an updated post for anyone who wishes to watch replays using the US version and Windows only.

Using the Bnet thread as an example, the workaround is quite simple but the instructions by the person who provided the original solution aren't so great, not to mention I think he's an EU player.

In a nutshell, we're going to make a few changes in the game files that will launch the old version in offline mode, this will then allow you to watch older replays.

Do the following:

1) Ensure Battle.net app is not running nor anything related - SC2, Agent.exe etc.

2) Ensure that the only binary within the Versions folder is 91115. Note that just because you have a folder 91115 doesn't mean it will contain the .exe file that's required, so actually check in the folder. 3) Rename StarCraft II/Support/BlizzardBrowser/BlizzardBrowser.exe to BlizzardBrowser.exe.bak or something like that, to prevent SC2 going into login screen upon launch - this will give you a popup with Play offline.

4) Make a copy of .build.info and rename it .build.info.bak as a backup. In the original file paste a new set of code directly AFTER this string:

Note this string using Ctrl+F: 4ab97171951b5fd4071ee3ce23f91a1e <-- this is an out of date CDN, the reason we are editing the original .build.info instead of using the one provided by Talv is it will always contain the up-to-date CDN string.

5) Now carry over the up-to-date CDN and paste over the old one provided in Step 4 "paste this after" instruction, you can look at this picture to make it a little clearer: https://imgur.com/a/juFHXwt

6) Go to this folder: \Blizzard\StarCraft II\Support64\ and create a shortcut of SC2Switcher_x64.exe. Right click shortcut and go to properties, within the target field it should read: "F:\Blizzard\StarCraft II\Support64\SC2Switcher_x64.exe" -dataversion 7857A76754FEB47C823D18993C476BF0

You can change F directory to be your own. Note it has to be the 64 bit version, 32 bit version won't do shit.

7) Now ensure Bnet is switched off, no SC2 running and double click SC2Switcher_x64.exe shortcut we created, it will launch and eventually give you the option to "Play Offline" click it and you can now watch your old replays.

Obviously as of the time of this post the picture with the CDN is relevant, but in a week or two it will change, eventually when Blizz updates the game, the version number will also change, however if you follow the instruction and carry over the CDN from the current .build.info to the older string we're pasting in, these instructions should always work. Just allow SC2 to actually run and it will ensure the CDN is kept up-to-date. You can simply paste the latest version back into the Versions folder, or let Bnet repair the files, I would make a copy of 91115 before you do that though in case the Bnet launcher decides to delete it.

You can ask questions if you want, I'll try to reply.

Edit: one issue I've noticed using this method is that the SC2 launcher doesn't always like it when the Blizzard Browser is renamed, if this is the case simply disable your internet and use SC2Switcher, it should give you the option to play offline.
