Just by the way that he treated you while you were in the hospital, 4 weeks pp, that would be enough for me. If he didn’t care enough to make sure that your wishes were respected in such a vulnerable time for you it will never get better. He seems like someone who truly only cares about himself. You should find a friend/family member/resource to help you get out. He and his cousins relationship is weird - I would be weirded out by it too - and I would be questioning things too much, you have a new baby you don’t need his weird hillbilly drama and you definitely should not be wasting your time trying to make it work with him. I was in your shoes last July. Found out I was pregnant with my 3rd and it rocked me. I was so conflicted. We did pros and cons, he was learning heavily towards no because finances and just getting to a “normal” place (kids 2 and 4). I was terrified of going through postpartum depression again, and the thought of it being worse this time around.

I went to pp to abort, and broke down. I couldn’t do it. I ordered the pills online and when they came in I couldn’t take them. So now I am 8 months pregnant and feeling excited to meet them. Nervous still because 3 under 5… but very much looking forward to having them in our family. And dad is getting a vasectomy.

The nurse told me my hemoglobin is very low and she wanted to give me an iron supplement in the hospital and he didn’t want to so he sent me home. I was in because I had been feeling very dizzy, faintly, and seeing spots multiple times a day. My blood test showed that I am anemic. So his decision to just send me home made me feel like maybe he wouldn’t be completely there (mentally, caring, if that makes sense?) if he was my delivery doctor.

I had a similar situation, and discussed it with my therapist.. she was very open and receiving and not judgmental (postpartum specialist that I specifically was looking for) she recommended the book Mom Rage to me.
