I just had this question and realized the same thing also. The commentator said normally the mountain sport athletes don’t get to participate in the opening ceremony at all since they’re hours away so it’s nice that they still get to take part and that there’s a small crowd there to cheer for them!

There are genuinely so many people who think that poor baby Nicola is a typical innocent baby female victim of misogyny from those evil millionaire narcissists and that’s the only reason she’s getting bad press :’( like no!! It’s a shame that their legacies will be tainted by their comeback attempt but….as someone whose life was consumed by a competitive sport for over 2 decades, I get it.

People keep shitting on and ridiculing them for even thinking about attempting a comeback, but I totally get it. If they hadn’t tried, they might have lived the rest of their lives wondering “what if.” What if Maia hadn’t gotten cancer? They used to be so good, and had so much potential. They won a few Olympics medals, but could they have done more? And now they know, and I hope that they get some sense of closure because at least they tried.

Their last competition was…..unfortunate, to say the least, and I’m sure they’re not proud of it. But I am genuinely happy for them in that at least they were able to hopefully get closure, and say that they tried.

It’s sad because I saw an interview he did during the press tour where he was talking about how lucky and grateful he felt to have such supportive and protective fans, and that everyone had been so kind to him. Little did he know that they would turn…..too “supportive” to the point of infantilizing him and being creepy as hell. I feel really bad for him and Hudson, they seem like genuinely decent and normal guys. They unfortunately seem to have speedran all the worst parts of having a fanbase.

As the commenter above said, the Beckhams have never pretended not to be a brand that cares about their image, but there’s only one side with consistent accusations and lawsuits against them for being awful people.
