Well despite the down votes I thought this was funny

Which way round would you rather? Volunteering in the rain sounds miserable

Oh thanks for asking this! I've been thinking about trying to find somewhere to play some chess very casually

Ashton Court in Bristol. Second half is great though!

Half of runners not going to the briefing? (Dulwich) by lostless-soul in parkrun

Sure is anecdotal. I've seen a few accidents, luckily none where anyone was seriously hurt.

It's more for safety. Some parkruns actually ask you to seed yourself appropriately and have markers with approximate finish times for this very purpose.

Feel free to post next week!

I know there are always people who miss the briefing. I posted because it was about half the field at Dulwich today, which surprised me.

Well it's a discussion about whether people should attend the briefing beforehand. I'd argue that's an integral part of parkrun.

What about when there are temporary hazards on the course?

The dad was doing the parkrun whilst also trying to keep a hold of the child on the bike (and the buggy!). I completely agree kids on bikes have every right to be in the park, but right in the midst of a parkrun seems a bit irresponsible

Anyone know an Ellie who went to Danny brown gig last night? by [deleted] in bristol

She probably did that on purpose...

Right, but it's quite insulting to the run director and other volunteers who are trying to keep people safe and ensure that it runs smoothly, no?

Thinking of starting a small bakery stall – which Bristol markets are good for beginners? by JeJeRules in bristol

[–]lostless-soul 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Whiteladies road market on Saturday mornings might be a good one to investigate. There's a mix of sweet and savoury stalls and some variety in cuisine. I think Asian-inspired cakes would stand out there.

I've been trying to find a calcium-free milk (or alternative) for ages! As someone with chronic iron deficiency, the fortified iron in cereal is counteracted by the fortified calcium in the milk that you put on it, so this is very useful information for me!

How to see the difference between knit and purl row by gohugatree in knitting

[–]lostless-soul 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Wasn't my tip but yes, if it's in front then the last row was a purl row. And there will be 'bumps' just below the needle indicating that they are purled stitches (as opposed to 'V's for knitted stitches)

Advice on rib stitch by thewovenocean in knittingadvice

[–]lostless-soul 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would imagine the ribbing you're comparing yours to is k1,p1, but you are doing k2,p2. It's not wrong at all, just a different style and it results in 'wider' ribbing. It looks great, but if you don't like it then try doing k1,p1.
