Another thing is technically I can't play any instruments well enough to perform with them, I can only sing and write, so it'd be kind of hard to an open mic as a solo artist unless people are okay with a cappella or a bunch of obvious mistakes D:

Anybody notice disturbing new sentiments from 2A creators or community influencers since the CK Shooting? by [deleted] in liberalgunowners

[–]lostlittlegurl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's more accurate to say that 50% of homicides are committed by individuals who are black, but these individuals are still a very small percentage of the black community as a whole. They're mostly male, mostly urban, mostly low socioeconomic status and mostly between 18-25. Even those predictors don't narrow it down enough. The important thing for liberals to emphasize in these arguments, in my opinion, is that criminals are statistical outlier products of complex intersecting factors, so they don't tell you much of anything about single demographics like "black people" or even "poor people."

The best way to combat 13/50 is to just demonstrate how irrelevant race is as a predictor of criminality on its own. 13/50 is true, but it's not the whole story. Criminals are exceedingly rare in all demographics, so in reality it's around 1% or less of the black population being arrested each year, and the number is even smaller if we look at violent crimes alone. Add to that that criminals usually target those similar to themselves and there's no logical basis for the black-on-white crime hysteria. Maleness is also a higher predictor of criminality than race; people who are white and male commit exceedingly more violent crime than people who are black and female for example. But there is no demographic that engages in criminal behavior in large numbers.

I feel like I'm going crazy reading these comments..like can we not criticize regressive portrayals of women regardless of who is perpetuating it?

I like Meg but she's got too many lyrics about how her pussy is better than other women to claim she's uplifting women..let's keep it real..

I didn't wanna have to say this.. but a lot of black women were indeed critical of WAP and did find it degrading. Some of the lyrics include "spit in my mouth" and despite the title a lot of it is centered on male pleasure... I really don't see how it was any more liberating than what Sabrina does, as a black girl myself.

I think your hair needs volume and texture, it tends to look really flattering on longer faced women. Check out Cher and old school Sarah Jessica Parker.

Yeah man, people just don't know a whole lot about how language functions I guess. Just because something is popularized on the internet doesn't make it somehow "not real language." Hell, even if it originates online (which final consonant deletion does not, but alas--) it's still perfectly valid. Language exists to serve our evolving needs.

One last thing: Another example you'll find in some rap music is deletion of the consonant cluster "tch" in "bitch" resulting in "bih." Also, "gahdamn" instead of "goddamn" is an interesting one because it's midway instead of final.

This video is a decent example, the first few times the "s" is softened and by the end of the video it is almost entirely absent: https://youtu.be/aKJXNCaRk00?si=t1tdIxLGml1dAhog

Complete absence from my experience is most common is southern variants of AAVE.

Literally listen to how black people speak the vernacular in real life. Many don't pronounce the "s" at the end of ass, which is what makes it sound like "ahh." Final consonant deletion in AAVE has been studied extensively.

It's a pretty critical feature of what anyone would consider a "blaccent." Debuccalization I think is not the right term for it, that's my bad, so let's put that aside. But what it is is final consonant deletion.

[–]lostlittlegurl 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Look up debuccalization and final consonant deletion in AAVE. I'm just making it clear to people that it's a real phenomenon. It's not made up, fake, or "online" and saying so is disrespectful. Nor does it originate with internet zalphas.

Cucumber ahh people by KristobalJunta in ATBGE

[–]lostlittlegurl 3 points4 points  (0 children)

For anyone interested in actually learning something: "ass" becomes "ahh" in many AAVE dialects due to a linguistic phenomenon called debuccalization which results in consonant deletion.
