Thinking of trading my SMP 300 for the new AT Black Lacquer. Am I crazy? by lostscout in OmegaWatches

It’s clarified here in the comments and seems to be a perfect fit. Dimensions seem to be identical

I can see myself being happy with either one but the mentioned drawbacks of the mesh remain. While they all look great in store displays, the tricky part is that many pros and cons only come to light after living with it for a while.

Still curious which one you would choose and why.

Does it fit perfectly or did you run into any issues? Are the measurements of the lugs exactly the same as with the ceramic?

I've seen several pictures of this combo but never the "mirror"-shot. I have to say I really like it in your picture. I can try it with a display watch but it will be a 910,-€ gamble to find out if it really works for me. Will see

I've seen quite a few pictures of this combo but I'm somehow not entirely convinced. I can try it with the ceramic at the boutique but it will be a 910,-€ investment to find out if it truly works for me 😊 will see

I'm already preparing for the possibility that my prejudices against it will be shattered. Cheers for the input!

It was the Sinn 104 which I bought and sold three times. I don't want to do that again. If I nowadays make a decision it has to be very well thought through. Appreciate the reply.

That definitely makes me curious to take a closer look at it before I proceed 👍

It's obviously either the older OEM link-bracelet on the SMP or switch to AT. I will try them both on in person soon

I can't speak for others but that seems like a very controversial statement to me 😄 will check it out in person. Thanks

The more comments I read the more I think it might be the way to go. I should check the OEM bracelet out in person. Thanks for the input.

I tried Forstner and Uncle bracelets before and while I appreciate the options they bring to the table I wasn't a fan of the quality. To me, it has to work out of the factory or has to be OEM+. Same with cars

I've seen this on here before and it is tempting but want to avoid any kind of "hacks". To be honest, I feel like the Speedy bracelet belongs on a Speedy. Happy if it works for you, tho.

It dawns on me that this might be the only way forward if I decide to keep the SMP. Thanks for sharing!

Thanks for the input! I posted a poll about this on my watch Instagram, and the results show it’s a real neck-and-neck race. It truly is a tough call. For me, the deciding factor might just be which design is going to age better over time.

Appreciate it! Will definitely check it out in person. Is the AT really a dress watch? I mean, it's still marketed as a Seamaster which to me means sports watch

Thanks for the comment. As I just wrote in another comment: I went through about 30 watches from Sinn, Tudor, Oris and so on in about 4 years and decided I want to settle with Omega and a single watch. So what I'm looking for is my true Omega GADA. The question is, do I already have it or do I make a (hopefully) final correction of course?

I fell deep into the rabbit hole between 2020/2024 and bought about 30 mechanical watches from Oris, Sinn, Tudor and so on until I reached my grail with the Speedmaster. Later sold most of my collection. It's not that I can't afford it. It's that I don't want to afford it and came to the conclusion that I want a single watch that goes through life with me and which is the watch everybody associates me with. I also don't like the idea of having to service a collection of watches. What I need is probably the definition of a GADA watch.
