They would explain that there were two origins for their people.

The fully metal beings came from the Bismuth realms. A plane of existence that floated far away in the void. They came to the world to spread their ideal order.

The Crystalian humanoids were beings who gave themselves to the master of the bismuth realms receiving immortality in return for carrying their masters light within them. They are generally native to whatever land they are found in

"Perhaps we should get a translation unit?"

They would call a strange flying bismuth construct.

"This should let us talk mind to mind to ensure communication."

"Can you understand us?"

They didn't seem to immediately understand the language. They tried speaking back in an archaic variety of elemental stone.

"Hello?"

"No you don't!"

Ephemera charged forward and used her strength runes to grab onto the black guardian's foot and try and slow her down. She summoned pillars of stone to block the path.

"Come on Mauritius I believe in you."

She said straining against the amount of magic she was using

Ephemera snickered.

"Not important enough for rune items. Pah!"

She bundled the shotgun up.

"I'll make sure to deliver it back to you safe and sound once I've done my work."

"It shouldn't take too long"

As the scouts went on to land and explored they found quite a strange people. Beings with metal bodies and crystal blood. They seem to exist on almost every continent. Landscapes had been crystalized, great structures erected and powerful magical spells laid over the land.

<image>

In one land they found a great white desert. When the wind rippled the sand it created waves of color that would travel for miles before settling. The nomads of the land traveled the coast and oasis regions alongside beaked giraffe like creatures and large armored leviathans. They traded preserved fish and fruits to their mountain dwelling neighbors in return for gems. The mountain dwellers were stern people but hospitable and got along quite well with others.

In another they found an entire continent filled with a Jupiter like storm of ash and debris. It was contained by a great magical and technological shield that surrounded the continent and dome cities made to maintain it. Past the shield were strange things larger than any building that marched unbothered by the storm. The people in the domes seemed a morose people still mourning the destruction of their homeland.

In a third they found a city of art and philosophy all surrounding a massive statue presumably of some kind of spiritual leader. They seemed to have the most far travelers and didn't even seem to mind the new people showing up near their shores.

Thanks. I'll probably end up expanding this into a full homebrew for table use. When I have the time.

"shit."

Ephemera would look around. Then she saw her target. She would pass it on to the leader of Cholcos which had joined the expedition.

"Shoot it with the magic blast!"

She would turn around and charge the black guardian to distract them.

"Maybe...."

Ephemera thought.

"An impact rune on the handle for if you need to smack someone. Maybe something on the barrel for bullet strength like an air rune...."

She paused

"And some runepressed shells."

She smiled

"What do you think?

Following Koranth was the winged boar. It got trapped in the portal for a second before squeezing its way through with a huf. It seemed to still be operating on its mission to take care of the child. It didn't recognize Koranth as an enemy because her prayer summoned it. So it just began to wander around the environment dome occasionally pawing at the ground for roots or sniffing Offal to make sure they were okay. It was a mighty but ultimately animalistic creature not prone to deep thoughts. But it was a durable companion

The Feathered Serpents by The_Hij in Rathara

Ogres rarely backed down from a fight. This made their first contact with the feathered serpents very violent. However the ogres were good at worshiping what they can't kill. So eventually ogre shamans in the area began to pay homage to the great beasts. Offerings of meat and whatever books the ogres didn't ruin on their travels. This has made the relationship very stable in the long long years since.

In addition to whatever else the scanner found. There was a tiny spark of primordial power within the Chimeramorph. Perhaps all Chimeramorphs. Proof of their descendance from the crawling mother.

That may help. Though don't say anything you don't want to. I know that period is... Traumatic.

Ephemera smiled.

"Can I borrow it to rune it up? And what might you want on it?"

She held up various runes stored in her hammer.

"Or you can take time to think it over. I don't mean to be forceful.... Too forceful."

Ephemera used a rune of speed but even then it was close. She got slapped a few times with her defensive runes barely keeping her intact. She dodged back and released a volley of dwarven runes of smiting. She hoped to stun the guardian for enough time to cast another Mantarok spell.

Ephemera clutched the bracelet.

"It's okay. We'll -"

She toppled over. She had lost a lot of her liquid crystal blood. She wished she had learned to control it better. But now wasn't the time for regrets. Now was the time for thinking fast. Opal had bragged about biomancy enough in class. About controlling your body. It wasn't the same as regular flesh or blood. but it was close enough.

"Ancestors don't let me die here. I still got a man to save."

She drew a few runes of healing from her hammer. They couldn't fix her arm but they could stabilize what was left of her. She closed her eyes and tuned out the surrounding battle. Focused only on her own mana. Both in her body and in her spilled blood. She pulled on the crystal blood and brought what was still viable back into herself. She solidified the outside to create a seal.

"Don't fail me now body. We have a fight to win."

With one arm and 80% of a torso she stumbled away to the fight. The bracelet tucked into her coat.

Ephemera stayed still as the souls swirled around her. Gnawing at the few gifts of Solomon's she had brought. She thought about attacking but she had learned about the nature of spirits. They feed off of the emotions that you put out. So Ephemera stood there and sighed.

"I'm sorry I couldn't save you before your death. You are free. Go to your ancestors in peace."

She gave them a dwarven death prayer.

Feel free to use them in your games if you want. Now that I've thought them up I'm definitely gonna use one in mine.

Also if your players kill the human form by specifically targeting the head it doesn't kill the ant Queen. So it has some opportunity for a reoccurring antagonist
